We are going to loose Jenkins if we franchise Johnson. I thought this whole time that we would place the franchise tag on Jenkins, but if Rapoport is right, I am guessing the Rams front office knows that Jenkins wants more than they want to spend. I'd love to have both of those guys locked up in the horns for a while, but we still have holes, guys.

Jenkins switching agents this close to Free Agency screams his former representation wasn't getting the ridiculous number he was asking for. This could play out to our benefit because the market could bring him back down to earth while we still have Tru under the tag.

In completely ok with tagging tru if we can't get a long term with him. I like Janoris but like we all know and have been saying he wants to be paid like revis .... And he just isn't worth that type of money. Ej Gaines was playing just as good and He takes less BIG risks that JJ did. If Jenkins only cares about the money (like we all believe) let him go get it. We Will be fine if not better with Tru. EJ. Joyner and Robinson going forward even without drafting anyone

Jenkins shows again that he isn't the brightest crayon in the box. I'm a bit disappointed that they might have to tag Tru that means he is also being difficult. Neither one of them has been that great their entire rookie contract. Good but for damn sure not top tier.

Tag just ensures some team can't sweep your guy off his feet without you getting a chance to talk some sense to him first. Plenty of time to work out a long term cap friendly deal.

The thing about Jenkins will be this: will it be about the Migos or is he just a hired gun?

I really don't care. It's not my life and I respect athletes who treat the NFL like a business. The owners and FOs surely do. What I don't like are players who run a bunch of gloss about team this and teammates that when what's in their heart is "I wanna get paid."

I mean, how you gonna be a Migo play in' in Chicago or Oakland???

It's not a huge loss if one of them walks, Joyner is our nickel and Gaines will be back this year as well. I'd like to have both, but we will keep at least one, we can't lose them both.

Can't count on Gaines right now. That is a bad injury and they don't have any idea if he will ever run the same after having it. Some guys had successful careers ruined by a Lis Franc injury

Well it looks like JJ is out of the picture. I hope the market for him is not as good as he thinks. Maybe a team toward the back of the draft would want to pay him, or a team needing two corners, but if you have a shot at a top corner in a deep corner draft, why overpay for Jenkins? Most teams will be able to find a corner in this draft if they need one, and they won't cost much.

I think bringing back both Tru and JJ would be a mistake. With all the depth the Rams have, plus the players returning from injury, we can afford to let one walk. Also it won't lock up 2 big contracts in CBs when they have a bunch of young CBs who are much cheaper and proven effective. They also have depth at safety, I'm confident Greg Williams will get Alexander on the field next year in creative ways with TJ coming back. Spend the money elsewhere, please.

A potential madden-like move would be to tag and trade JJ to someone like the Bears for someone like Alshon Jeffery or just to any team for draft picks/players. Now that would be a splash move I would love to see us make going into LA.

That's just it. Both sides are trying to figure out the market value for these players.

I'll be surprised if either one is signed before FA starts. Which is exactly why the tag is in play.

Not to mention; I doubt either wants to play on a tag contract, which usually means a deal is worked out - eventually. To be a GM is pretty crazy, requires patience, strategy, and a little luck.

Jenkins strikes me as the type of person that will take it personally if Tru was tagged and not him.So if they do tag Tru he might not budge and want top corner money. If Gaines is fully healed and JJ won't come back down to earth i say let him walk.

Just a thought but I wonder if they're doing this because they feel that Trumaine will be more willing to sign a long-term deal after being tagged at a fair price whereas Jenkins will overestimate his value and they won't be able to work a deal out. Instead, they believe that by letting JJ go to the FA market, it will force him to be realistic about his value and allow them to re-sign him at the value they feel he's worth.

Hard to say.

Even though I worry about Jenkins off the field, I really-really want him back. He's not got the INT numbers that Trumaine puts up, but I trust the guy against any #1 WR. I hope the Rams can find a way to keep them both.

Then again, with other contracts expiring, the plan all along might be just to secure one.

The FA market is typically pretty favorable for veteran corners. Flowers, Carr, Finnegan, Maxwell all got 9-10 m/year and I'm sure JJ could as well.

They let him go to FA, he's not coming back, IMO.
