Hopkins needed to develop and looks like he is doing just that he is the one actually ascending. Also I agree with @MachS . Why wouldn't you use Harris as a total mismatch at TE when he showed he can block had had the best block of the game where he leveled that one dude in pass pro. He continues to do that and that's a match up to exploit. Imagine having our wideouts out there and then Harris at TE assuming his blocking continues to ascend that's crazy.

Not overly shocked, projecting the 53 we will likely keep a couple of players at positions that don't necessarily hold that many spots.

Interesting.

I’ve pointed out.. he can’t block.

Hopkins is light years better in the pass game.
Wonder if they’re bringing someone in or promoting someone.
Do they really like Roger Carter? Or will they go two TE plus Harris and add a guy to the PS for short term call ups?

The new PS rules are a factor. Can always find vet blocking TEs to stash on the PS.

Maybe they think Mundt will shake loose in the cuts.

I have us holding 9 spots between WR & TE. this will allow us to keep Cutch & Harris on the 53. What will get dicey is VJ & OBJ but that is a quality problem to be solved later
There will always be injuries that change the math as the season progresses

It says Waived, No Recall. Anyone know what that means? "No Recall"?

Try these articles, in essence, we can not change our position for 24 hours and the other 31 teams have that same time to place a claim and sign him to his existing contract. Once the waiver period clears there is a new contract negotiated. This is as best as I can generalize it with my loose but flimsy grasp of the system LOL

I'm assuming some team snaps him up so gonna wish him well here. He did a good job sticking on this roster and growing as a player, maybe he can carve out a backup job elsewhere. And I'll always appreciate his big plays in the biggest game to win that ring.

Fair winds and following seas to you 86 and best of luck.

While we get attached to guys that have been on the roster a while, keep in mind that we are talking about a backup tight end.

Personally neither he nor Hopkins gave me much inspiration. Carter could be making a case as a blocking TE. Mundt was more of that with the Rams. With the poor showing running the ball last year maybe McVay is playing with keeping him just to block.

Many here felt it was time to draft a TE, in a deep TE draft to groom a replacement for an aging Higbee. So it seems few of us are that hyped about the entire TE room.
