Watched a few replays and I think Carter made the 53 based on Teams play.
I agree. Teams overall look really good as well, outside of one return where someone gave up that sideline. Didn't see who it was.

Should be able to have a 5 man "protected practice squad" where the players don't get exposed to waivers. Maybe those guys make more money since they can't get signed off by another team and thus are restricted more. I just think they should be able to do that even if its for first yr players only. It allows teams more time to develop their own guys.

I hate this shit. The League needs to change to allowing all 53 to dress for game day.
Agree they need to change the numbers. Allow more players to be kept and bump the cap so they can keep guys on the team for specialized roles like special teams.

I'm not sure the CAP should be bumped up, starting QB's and top tier players will just take it all imo. I would agree to CAP limitations based on the percentage of a particular unit in regards to total team CAP, although this would be tough to work out. jmo.

We’ll if they expand rosters they will need more money to pay additional players. Maybe instead of just adding dollars a way to spread it over the entire roster (I think that is way you are suggesting) is a good tool to add.

Blanton was is a big target while he showed good hands during his limited playing time.

McVay could simply be going to more WRs. The Rams have good blocking WRs that are getting bigger outside of Atwell. The roster is ever-changing or for McVay ever-evolving to his vision.

Good news for Hopkins. He has the upside as a route runner with more speed and quickness.

While we get attached to guys that have been on the roster a while, keep in mind that we are talking about a backup tight end.

Carter could be making a case as a blocking TE. Mundt was more of that with the Rams. With the poor showing running the ball last year maybe McVay is playing with keeping him just to block.

  • Looks to get involved downfield and will block multiple defenders on a single play when he can. Understands his role as a blocker.
  • Shows good effort as a blocker and works hard to gain body positioning.
What kind of role do you see yourself in on the team? What scheme and/or position suits your skill set?
I’m a utility player and a big special teams contributor. I’m used all over in many positions whether it be tight end or fullback. I’ve been split out wide as a receiver and also used as a blocker whether it be in the backfield, in-line or used as a h-back in split zone blocking the opposite DE.

Interesting.

I’ve pointed out.. he can’t block.

Hopkins is light years better in the pass game.
Wonder if they’re bringing someone in or promoting someone.
Hopkins was our #3 last year.

On that game winning drive in the SB he could have been up for MVP. That clutch block he made coming off the bench on 4 and 1 with Coopers jet sweep run I have watched many times over and over. Complicated play and Hopkins was a total pro doing his job very well.

I am a big fan of Hopkins on that drive alone.

Blanton wasn't bad, just not good enough for our depth right now. He will easily get picked up.

Hopkins didn’t fully execute his block as planned. The play was heading to the edge and when the Bengals linebacker cut that off Kupp turned it up field. I don’t get why people make a big deal out of Hopkins blocking on that play.

Maybe because he opened up a hole for Kupp to run through and convert the 4th down? A semi trailer could have made it through that hole.
