I’d rather have an avg leg kicker that’s money inside 40-45
over a power guy who can hit from over 50 but is inconsistent overall.
I agree, but considering, Maher was one of the better kickers available plus he has a great leg so you have chance from 60 yards.

I don't. Didn't know who he was till the Stafford trade. (Not sure anyone else did either - :hiding: ).
Seems he's assumed to be responsible for the Rams' greatest (draft) hits, but gets a pass for the whiffs.

Would be curious where he stood on Greg Robinson.

I like the fit.

In a season where we are in rebuild we can afford to give him another chance to get back to the solid kicking he was doing, previous to the bizarre 5 straight XP misses.

Hard to find a guy that can nail those 50+ at a high %.

Plus the stigma of being “inconsistent” or a “head case” lowers the long term price tag.

Yeah...it's not like a veteran has been brought in to replace a rookie who flopped and gone on to win a Super Bowl and become the highest paid kicker ever..

oh wait..

that has happened..

He was pounding the table for Jake Matthews
I still can’t believe Fisher passed on Mathews after coaching his Dad (Bruce Mathews) all those years with the Oilers and Titans. The bloodlines made Jake feel like a can’t miss prospect.

Instead, we picked Robinson, AND MISSED, big time.

Bruce Mathews played 19 seasons. Didn’t miss a single game the final 14 seasons. WHAT was Fisher thinking?

In fairness many rated Robinson the best overall prospect they had ever seen. That was obviously from the neck down.

The home run vs the “lesser” but nearly sure thing… I wouldn’t have taken that gamble… you GOT TO HIT picking #2 overall.
