Running back Steven Jackson made countless plays over the course of his career as a Ram.

He made an impact from the time he entered the league as a first-round pick out of Oregon State. He rushed for 673 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie in 2004 — helping the Rams secure a playoff berth and defeat the Seahawks in the Wild Card round.

From there, Jackson recorded eight consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards rushing from 2005-2012 — his last season with the club. In the process, Jackson became the Rams’ all-time leading rusher with 10,138 yards in 131 games.

Now as the Rams continue their 2019 training camp, Jackson has signed a one-day contract to retire as a member of the organization.

It’s fitting for someone who has meant so much to the franchise. And as No. 18 in all-time rushing yards — one of just 21 players to eclipse 11,000 — Jackson has a case to eventually be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This made me so happy. All of those years, he was the lone bright spot on those terrible Rams teams. Watched every single game because he gave me hope. Now we need to retire number 39 and hang it up in the rafters at the new stadium.

Being a Ducks fan I sure can appreciate SJax...I remember seeing him as a true Freshman running over people....was absolutely stoked when we drafted him...Beast Mode?...LOL ask Mike Rumpf the S from Frisco who tried to arm tackle him....The guy toiled on piss poor teams and never once complained...a true Pro's Pro...Thanks Steven....congrats on being a Ram for LIFE...

I remember when we drafted him, I was like, why do we need a RB? We have Faulk!

But I knew we had a keeper during preseason that year, Martz was the coach, and he put SJ to the test in a game. Jackson ran like 7 times in a row, and was looking to leave the field for a breather, and Martz told him to stay in there. He called another couple runs in a row, and SJ took him up on the challenge.

I'd like for our tackles leader for the team retire a Ram to!

Also would be sweet for Chris Long to retire a Ram!

TBH it just shows the randomness of testing. He was technically on the roster for a day and available to be pulled for testing. Or it all could be a joke.
Very curious if it’s the latter, I wonder if it’s within a day like that?

I read a post somewhere about this and a person quoted that daily each teams rosters, in off season including all injured lists, are taken and 10 names randomly generated.

Wow that’s crazy. No wonder they get random ass people getting popped!

As it should be. Good job, Rams. Steven needs to be a life long Ram. He was our best player for a lot of years.

SJ was one of the best RBs that ever played for the Rams. The
Rams weren't exactly world beaters but it was always fun to watch SJ perform his magic.
