I get the whole potential thing. But 10 Million for a guy that has very poor production is idiotic. Meanwhile you let NRC go for less than 4m.

geez Louise.

Could say the same about Fowler last year. He was averaging less than a sack per season more than Floyd. The move panned out for us. Staley knows Floyd, and we replace Fowler without losing a comp pick. Great move.

I look at it as 10M to not be quite as desperate come draft day. If it can help them avoid reaching there is a greater chance to hit on the pick and maybe get an impact player.

I don't hate the move. I just think we could've done better with the money.

I think I like it. But where exactly does he line up? is he a 3-4 OLB? 3-4 DE? 3-4 ILB? what did he play in college?

I think he'll take Littleton spot moreso than Fowler

There was something Staley said about different ways to attack an offense maybe he said disguise who was rushing on the front seven.. I can't remember exactly what it was but, I got the impression that he would move Littleton around and rush him more. It seems like Floyd would be great at moving around in disguising the defense. Having a 6'6" pass-rusher coming up the middle that can also move back into coverage would be nice. We are going to see a much more creative scheme on defense.

Scheme is everything. This is one signing I really can't judge just yet. Based strictly on production, I think we overpaid a bit, but that might be a premium the organisation fells comfortable paying in order to make sure they get a player they like who will also not count against us in the compensation pick formulas.

Gotta agree. Plus he had two massive studs that other teams had to concentrate on and he still didn't produce. Not a great sign to me for the $

This looks a lot better when you consider that he doesn't count towards comp picks. That means we get something for Fowler and Littleton leaving. Nice.

Just watched his first game last year vs the Packers to ensure I had him right in my head. Sets a very good edge in the run game. Not a great pass rusher, but one thing I find interesting is he's got a poor "get off" at the snap. So there might be some room to improve if he can get more decisive right at the snap.

Very strong though. And it seems to me that we have two guys like that now in him and Clay Matthews, so I suspect this signing means Clay is gone.

Guys and Gals, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but it strikes me odd that we just paid LF 10 million and let Cory Littleton leave and he's getting around 12 million a year from the Raiders.

Does this bother anyone else?

Look I hope beyond all hope that LF elevates his game and I'm shown to be wrong and all but I am left wondering if we should have just resigned Cory.

OK, time to fire the photon torpedoes, I am ready!!

28 years old in September. 11.5 sacks in the last three years on 2274 snaps. Not sure how high that ceiling goes....
He was also asked to do much more than just be a pin your ears back and rush the passer. That said his numbers aren't much different from Fowlers before he came to LA.

I love NRC but I see why we did this. Pass rush is more of a need with our CB depth.

$10 million is just the going rate for most FAs these days - and because he was cut, it doesn't impact the comp formula. This is a slam dunk.

Littleton is getting 12 million per year. We wouldn’t have signed Floyd to 10 million per year, but we will pay him that on a prove it year type contract.

Part of that is the commitment, I think.

For the Rams, if we decide to extend Kupp, JJ and Ramsey, that's a lot of mega contracts being handed out.

If Littleton would have signed for a one year $12 million deal, I'm sure we would have done that in a heartbeat - instead we get to buy another year where hopefully we get our core locked up and then keep our first round picks, so that we can choose to cycle through certain positions. Because of what we're paying Donald, odds are edge rusher and other front 7 positions will be those that are constantly cycled - and once we have first round picks again, it'll be much easier to successfully do this.
