He started games for KC last year at ILB. Was a 4th round pick for them.

Oh yeah! The linebacker we've been waiting fo... wait, who?

In actuality though, knowing Wade Phillips, this'll be the next Brandon Marshall or Todd Davis lol

Ramik Wilson (ILB)
HT: 6'2" WT: 237LBS.

POSITION: ILB

SCHOOL: Georgia

ARM LENGTH: 33"

HANDS: 10 5/8"

Overview
Selected to play in 2015 Senior Bowl. Selected second-team All-SEC in 2014 with 110 tackles, including 7 for loss. Exploded onto scene in 2013 and selected first-team All-SEC after leading SEC with 133 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss and 4 sacks. At Jefferson High School (Fla.), started at linebacker and tight end and handled punting duties. Had 18 sacks his senior season.

Pro Day Results

40-yard dash: 4.62 seconds and 4.68 seconds
Three-cone drill: 7.47 seconds

COMBINE STATS
  • 40 YARD DASH: 4.77 SEC
  • BENCH PRESS: 23 REPS
  • VERTICAL JUMP: 35.0 INCH
  • BROAD JUMP: 111.0 INCH
  • 20 YARD SHUTTLE: 4.51 SEC

ANALYSIS
Strengths
Three-year starter. Productive and shows downhill traits to make impact tackles. Linear build with limbs to push his way around second-level linemen. Mirrors play and slides laterally with ease. Finished 2014 with the SEC's highest tackle-quality grade amongst starting linebackers. Has the potential to play SAM or WILL linebacker spots in a 4-3. Can get sideline to sideline and isn't easily taken off his feet.

Weaknesses
There are questions about how effective he can be in coverage. Doesn't play with consistent physicality. Scouts worried about ability to "mirror and match" tight ends in coverage. Zone awareness needs work. Instincts are below average. Questionable strength to play inside on the next level. Allows himself to get mauled when linemen square him up. Tends to coast his way through some plays. Grab-and-drag tackler.

Draft Projection
Round 4

Sources Tell Us
"I think he can play inside in a 3-4 as long as he's not the 'take on' linebacker. In a 4-3, I think the SAM then WILL are his best spots in that order. I'm a little worried that he could get picked on in coverage in our league." -- NFC area scout

NFL Comparison
Zaviar Gooden

Bottom Line
Wilson could use more thump in his game. He will occasionally flash explosiveness, but we don't see it enough. Productive over the last two years, with ability to come in and help on special teams. Attack- oriented defense could turn Wilson into a more urgent player, but he might have to prove he can be more than just a backup linebacker.

I remember him coming out and thinking his name was meant for the Rams. And so it is now so. Hope he is good against the run.

Think he played Mike for the Chiefs so he competes with Hager for the vacated Ogletree spot along with a draft pick or two.

Struggled with "stack and shedding" but maybe he doesn't outright miss tackles the way Ogletree did at times.

Also sounds like he was tasked with calling the defense when he started.

Edit: He played Mike in 2016 and some Mo in 2017 it looks like.

This is a solid sign. Good run defender who became available more because of a numbers game. Could be one of those under the radar signings with great value

Probably just depth but we needed to add someone at LB. We are pretty thin in that spot right now.

This is an outstanding signing IMO. He's not an all pro but this guy has played some very good football as an ILB in relief of Derrick Johnson. He should be able to battle for a starting position. I'm as happy about this signing as any move this off season.

*phew* thought we were gonna play with only one linebacker and the back-seven comprised of DBs. I expect improvement in run defense at the cost of pass defense if he's replacing Ogletree.

As it stands right now, we needed a depth signing at least for the Mike LB position.

We now have Barron and Littleton at Mo LB.
We have Hager and Wilson at Mike LB.

I'm sure we'll pick up a LB or two to compete at Mike during the draft. I don't think it'll happen before the 3rd round though. We still need bodies upon bodies at OLB.

Well if we get Suh we could have Donald Trump back there and we’d be well off still.
