I am curious, did Lake take away snaps from the second LB as we blossomed into a play off team?

I don’t want to see Reeder or CRboom(bust) on the field unless it’s special teams and even then hope we can do better. Neither is terrible they are just not very good
Lake and others at nickel/dimebacker were always taking more snaps than second LB. Second LB is a part time player and not even a ton.

I still saw Rozeboom and Reeder in the game a lot more than I would have liked.
They were on the field quite a bit. Rozeboom was often playing over half of the snaps until they started rotating Reeder in.

I don't think it is possible that an undrafted player, like either Rozeboom or Reeder, can be called a bust if they have earned their way onto the field. Rozeboom is the better of the two in my opinion and is a solid player.
I agree that both are better cast as backup and ST guys however.
I agree but his play is more bust than boom :)

Speights was a favorite of mine late in the draft. apparently his tackling and run defense is pretty good but according to scouting reports his coverage skills needs some work.

Wonder how he'll work out but with him being a lead tackler and all Pac-10 to being the lead tackler at LSU I have some hope compared to Rozebloom or Reeder.

I think that profile makes him EJ's primary backup, to be honest.

The one area that needs some serious vet juice is ILB.
I have not had time to look but there will be at least one veteran who peels loose after their team drafted a lower cost replacement

If so, we can probably sign them on a cheap deal because the team will be on the hook for part of their salary

Gotta find a 2 down hammer @ ILB... Just sick of being pushed back for easy short yardage. Our identity can't be push overs. And we are making great strides to fixing this. Should be easy to find a vet to plug in before training camp after a few cuts occur.

Next year I'm afraid. LT, TE, QB, ILB all seem like they may get priority.

I’d add CB and WR. But I’m hoping they extend EJIII and find a serviceable ILB this year.
Yeah CB very likely as well.

spent some time watching him. He's okay, nothing special, but should make roster ... challenge Merch ... could be a backup nose. Not seeing a starter on NFL level. Rams have taken guys like him in 5-6-7 round before and are fair.

Cannot criticize the pick, sees like a strong character, does not have great hands, a lot of his highlights are unblocked things.

High floor, low ceiling guy.
