Here’s a good example of why you should not rely too much on media “experts.” This is from Chad Reuter:
Turner was a Day 3 prospect but could be an appropriate replacement for the undersized Greg Gaines inside.
Oh, really? Gaines, at 312 lbs. is “undersized”? I guess that makes Turner, at 288…what…anorexic?

Or…maybe most of these “experts” are prone to pontificating from their posteriors.

He’s not Aaron Donald
No one saying he is but dismissing him before he gets his opportunity isn't fair either. The guy is a legit run stopper and has a quick burst. I'm excited to see what he does. He'll at least have Coach Henderson and AD giving him excellent guidance.

I guess & @jrry32 communicates highly about him too, however, I just feel he will get swallowed up at the next level, we'll see.

I found this to be quite shocking.

I knew nothing about this kid till we drafted him. But from what I gather he's a guy with good strength for his size. The knock was the guys in the NFL are a lot stronger than college guys. He'll have to learn new techniques to go along with that strength. He'll never be Aaron Donald but he can learn some things from Aaron.

This is a very interesting pick. The first two were right in line with all the rankings. But this one is way different. PFF likes him a lot, but most others have him 150-200+. Maybe that's because of his size. Maybe the Rams, with the obvious AD history, don't feel that matters for certain special guys with the right technical & skills. Plus learning from AD. With such a premium pick (80's) -- this will be a very important one when we look back at this draft a few years down the road and evaluate Les & crew.

It might also be a tell for how they feel about Bobby Brown. BB has huge size and they let go their two other bigger/beefy guys (Gaines/Rob). So size in the middle is a huge need -- especially with two under 300 lb guys in AD & Turner. So maybe they feel Brown is about to make a big jump and be the beefy man in the middle. Or i guess they could envision Turner as a future replacement for ADs role (doubtful -- i think they see them together).

I just find it really, really interesting for so many reasons. This pick is one i will be following closely over the years. I hope they found a crack in the traditional scouting/drafting wall by NFL teams and got a diamond here.

Yeah, PFF is in love with him, which sounds good to me. With a Pass Rush win rate of 14.7% and a Run Stop Rate of 11.5%, both are I believe 85-90% of the whole class. Pretty excited by this guy and, really, where else would a guy named Kobie thrive?

I really like our first pick. I like our second pick too. I do think Turner mighta been a bit of a reach. But each team has their own rating system and knows who fits their scheme better. So I'll have to defer to Snead and McVay knowing more about this guy than I do.

Kind of wished they had traded 4 or 5 spots up to select either Daiyan Henley or Trenton Simpson at ILB. Probably would have only costed us an extra 5th and maybe a 7th. I think either of those two would have been plug and play starters.

So glad we have so many posters with some good knowledge of Turner.
If his play strength is what I’m hearing, no reason he couldn’t develop into a starter sooner rather than later. Not exclusively a 3, from what I’m reading here. Good news.

This guy is 6'3, but you would never know it watching him play.

His pad level is outstanding for a man his size and his motor is full go.
Looking forward to him wearing horns. Year 1 contributor IMHO.

Sounds like he's the Gaines replacement. Strong dude, apparently.. had more bench reps than Gaines.. and has a little more height and arm length.. but doesn't look like the same bowling ball of destruction.
Hoping that he can develop much more quickly than previous dlinemen drafted in recent years. Can't really afford a "gap year" from him.

Watching that video above, the guy is smart and does his homework. If he studies film as hard as AD, I have no worries about him succeeding.

Eric Henderson likes him & is one of The Best D-Line coaches in The NFL!! I’m not questioning when those signs of his dedication to the game is at such a High Level. The Rams will have nice rotational depth.

Can he put more meat on his frame? 6 3 is not small for a DL but 285 is small.

Could he put another 20 lbs on him to be more of a force on the DL or will that mess with his quickness?

Definitely on our board, albeit taken a round earlier than expected. Then again, Cobie Durant was one of those players, so I have high hopes for Turner. He's got a great motor, definitely a need.

Was very impressed by his post-draft interview with LA media. Very well-spoken and seems very smart!

Yeah, definitely sounds like a good young man. Easy to root for.
