In today's NFL if you're just a NT then this is the range you go in. Names to be excited about:
DeMarcus Christmas
Ed Alexander
Daylon Mack

I also wouldn't discount the idea that they want to play JFM as a starter with brockers at the nose.

I'm more concerned about the O-line . It was exposed by good defenses in big games , and 2/5 of it is gone . I thought they would draft one of the two big smart centers in the 2nd round . Goff has to have protection to function .

Yeah, I think that has to be a big concern, even if only for us fans. Protecting our young QB is vital, and Saffold opened some major league holes for our RB's, should we really expect Noteboom, Allen & Blythe to have the same success as with our lost veterans ?

Lest we forget, Kiser is supposed to be a "thumper" type of player. True, he isn't a DLineman...but he should certainly help in the run game.

Maybe. Despite being active for special teams all 16 games, he couldn't get even one defensive snap all season. And the Rams could have used a defensive thumper at times. So they had little faith in him. Hopefully he's developed - but this offseason they signed one player who'll take snaps from him in Matthews and drafted Rapp who will take snaps also, with the various safety packages.

He's more than just a thumper. He has a nose for the ball and finds his way to the ball carrier. He'll be much more visible this season. And who knows what we have in Okoronkwo????

I think the rams have a veteren FA in mind at DT, or at least I hope so because as of now they are relying on Brockers to man the middle all season with Day as his backup. That is much more of a concern for me than adding another RB who will get how many touches a game???

The rams have been using FA for need and this draft for BP value so I'm thinking they have to add a DT who can at least rotate with brockers this year and hopefully start in 2020. If not, we will be basically forced to either resign Brockers for alot of money or scramble next year in FA.

Hard to believe Snead and McVay’s teams don’t have a plan for NT. That wouldn’t suit what their fortays has been on shoring up positional groups and right now that is one glaring hole!

I fully expect them to address it several times today and with other UFA’s they have scouted as perfect under the radar guys!

Let's not forget Sebastian Joseph-Day. Reputedly the Rams like him, and he's had a year in a NFL weight room now. It wouldn't shock me if they got somebody - but if the plan is to have a backup for Brockers at NT, then that could be it.

Basically, having players like Joseph-Day lets them focus on the best value, not on just a position.

Like commentators and many fans have been claiming center is a great need, when the Rams have Allen whom they like and who is cheap with a year in the system.

If our plan is JDM we are in big trouble. Guy doesn’t have the size or ability to be a starter.

Need somebody who can fill that role and not Brockers. 2017 run D not ring a bell?

Yeah I just dont see day or Brockers as the answer beyond 2019 and I'm not even that comfortable with that combo as our DT rotation this year. Someone has to be added.

Sebastian Joseph-Day....Tanzel Smart.....Greg Gaines.... that's a nice set of young DTs.... think we may pick up a vet..but we've been developing young talent well lately, and if we keep that going, we'll have a nice rotation moving forward

Blythe was already a starter.

The Rams are building there OL through the draft. Kromer likes Evans .

A solid pick & Les Snead letting the draft come to him.

David Long May have been a steal. He has a year to develop. I think he can be a starting CB. One of the better cover corners.

LOL, Yes, i'm quite aware of that, but he did suffer some at the Super Bowl, and some questioned whether he would remain at RG or perhaps be competing with Allen at Center. Blythe was the youngest offensive lineman starting for us last season, and that was between two veterans, now he'll have to play next to what is basically a rookie, and Allen will be starting between two pretty raw players as he has the newbie Noteboom on his left side. I have to believe there will be some growing pains.

We got a proper NT now! :)

Sweet. Gaines is EXACTLY the type of player that was a glaring need on this roster.

Honestly think McSnead thought so as well, since they sacrificed 2 picks to move up and get him.

Love the tape on Gaines. Also loved that his peers voted him the best DL in the PAC-12.

I hope Gaines lives up to his highlight reel, because the Rams will need him to contribute right away.

They''ll do the usual evaluation and development during training camp and if they have to go pick up a last minute cut vet.

Run D improved overall with Matthews and Weddle, IMO.

Joseph-Day and Smart.

Those young coached up players in their second year - bigger, stronger.

Brockers could put on 20 pounds and be an excellent 3-4 nose tackle.
Remember he was a 0 and a 1 tech before in the 4-3.

We might have defensive tackles that take less plays off than Suh.
