Must've been waiting to see if Floyd would agree to his contract before biting the bullet on how much they should restructure. I never had a worry about anything.

How does that solve the cap problem? That adds 4.5 mill of dead cap. Going to replace in house? Or with a rook? Among the FA guys out there, most will cost more than the 10 mill "save" and its a gamble they will replace his production. And anyone who will cost less than 10 mill may save a couple bucks on the cap, but will cost the team on a position downgrade

Oops, I left out the “re-structure first” part. This would then save $$ and garner a pick. I see though, it is Woods who has been restructured. As with Kupp, I’d like to see him stay, but sometimes players are restructured prior to being moved.

I think your off the Mark a bit about needs. Time will tell, you could be totally right.

Maybe but what are our needs?
QB? Nope
RB? Nope
WR? Nope
TE? Hmm. Depends on Hopkins.
DL? Nope
S? Nope
CB? Sure, you can never have too many good CBs
ILB? Yeah, we could use somebody who can beat our Reeder
OLB? I think we're in pretty good shape there
OG? See CB
C? Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

How do you line up our needs? We're pretty damn close to a complete team with a couple of minor tweaks.

Top needs in my view...

C - stop gap vet AND future starter via draft.

LB - draft pick, inside thumper to help handle GB & SF ground attacks.

CB - draft pick or waiver claim, always need to add depth here

DT - draft pick, quick twitch pure pass rusher to help Donald

WR - mid rd draft pick, deep threat, stretch the field guy

OT - draft pick, developmental, potential future LT.

Yeah, that's about how I see it. A free agent center on a 1 year deal or easily absorbed 2 year contract and get the best center we can in the draft. Over the last 5 years there have been 8 rookie centers start at least 12 games and 6 were drafted in the 2nd (3) and 3rd (3) rounds. Finding a deep thread WR shouldn't be hard and won't have to happen in the first 3 picks. They can maneuver the draft to get C, CB, ILB, WR, OT and I wouldn't mind seeing them take another TE and/or RB.

Hoping at pick 57 a future LT prospect is worth the pick.. Little LT Stanford is someone I am watching closing leading up to the draft

This seems to be about $1M off per restructure based on RapSheets report. But gives a pretty good idea how much cap room we can create. We're definitely not done in free agency.

Exactly right!!

If I understand this correctly, and if it is accurate, the Rams are freeing up just over $60m in new cap space money. Wow!! Even with the reported $30+m over the cap number they started with, and Floyd onboard for an added $12.5m 2021 cap hit, this seems like it may leave about $15m or so ballpark of new money.

And apparently they can convert money in Stafford's contract into a signing bonus once it comes on the books tomorrow.

I am far from a salary cap guru but, depending on the exact numbers, this leaves the Rams with more money for free agent signings. As Shuie3225 says, we are NOT done in free agency.

Yeah, he's my mock pick, also is familiar with our new OL coach. He might be had in a trade down as i'm seeing him in some mocks as slipping into the 3'rd round. jmo,

Missing the biggest need of all LS. Maybe it was the first three dings on C.

This must mean Whitworth is returning, unless there is some salary cap alternate universe explanation.

If so, this is a big deal, even if an expected one.

Don’t know what universe you’ve been living in. That was a no brainer.

Andrew Whitworth is The Best FA signing under salary cap rules were
in place.

He seats in The Rams Front Office shooting the shit. The Rams are paying him as much as they can,but still control cap space. He is a leader, mentor & great in the community.
He got lucky last season. The 2019 season was brutal vs opponents.

I merged two "what are Rams doing about restructuring" threads. I normally leave the older thread but this one seemed to have the more appropriate title.

Oh so you must be a moderator. I'm pretty new here, so could you direct me to the
"Rams Reorganizing of player funds" thread? Or should I start a new one on it?
I thought this was it, but it's a thread about restructuring.

Agree it's a no brainer... but it's not a done deal until it happens. And that's a big deal.

I believe Jordan Rodriguez said she'd anticipate it being later in the week.

LOL. They signed 2 of them anticipating McQuaide joining Bones in Dallas. Steven Wirtel and Colin Holba.

Exactly- the blue font kinda throws the sarcasm off. Jake & Joe will be missed from the LBer group.
It’s Shula Time !! Now with a rearrangement of coaching will add
To some twist & turns. When is Johnny finally done ? Still a big cap hit for a punter. Did well replacing All-Pro Donnie Jones from LSU. Did he play with Whit ? Johnny play with Cooks at OSU.
I’m thinking Cooks still has not been replaced. Jefferson is more like an upgrade from Josh Reynolds. Does Reynolds comeback ? Everett.
Those are still key positions that not many are talking about.Hopkins yes,but Mundt no ? Blanton has good skill set & Ram Fans don’t about his improvement.
