And Akers didn't have issues? Every time he had a rush early in the season he had 3 defenders in his face as soon as he secured the ball. It was a very strange dynamic when Akers was on the field. Henderson seemed to have plenty of room to run but Akers was under siege on every snap.

Dude, Yes the same exact offensive teammates from 2016 Gurley and 2022 Akers.

Case Keenum/Rookie Jared Goff > Matt Stafford

Kenny Britt > Cooper Kupp

Tavon Austin > Van Jefferson/Allen Robinson

2nd Year Havenstein > seasoned Pro Havenstein

Rob Boras > Liam Cohen

Yep all those 2016 players are very very good compared to our 2022 roster. Man I feel bad for Akers, let’s blame the RB coach Samples for making Akers fail last year! :laugh1:

2016 Rams - 12 losses

2022 Rams - 12 losses

Any other questions?

I think we have to factor in an issue between last years RB Coach Ra'Shaad Samples & Cam Akers. Samples was very young like 27 and maybe it was not a good fit as McVay pivoted and put Thomas Brown back overseeing the RB's and things did get better.

Rams tried to hire both Tashard Choice (Longhorns) & DeShaun Foster (UCLA) before settling Ron Gould, who IMO, was a great choice because he will be the adult in the room and Gould has a ton of collegiate experience along with being the Head Coach at Cal-Davis too.

Lets see how Akers responds to Gould and handles this year because it could have really been an issue with Samples. Also as much as I liked Thomas Brown, McVay empowered Brown to hire his replacement, in which, Brown hired Samples, which was an epic fail so I don't feel that bad losing Brown as he now has a great chance being OC in Carolina under Frank Reich, which will give him an opportunity to become a HC eventually.

I think Samples is doing a lot of "work" in the issues Cam had. McVay didn't seem to handle him well either. That's not to say that Cam wasn't a problem but McVay really fell apart last year and didn't do a lot of things well.

Whenever there is drama I don't think you can completely absolve the player. Cam certainly was a part of all that. But I do think the Rams staff mismanaged the RB room, trying to force Henderson as the guy and Akers wasn't having it because he knew the truth, which is that Henderson couldn't fucking do it.

For some strange reason the Rams never could see Henderson clearly. Until the end. I don't know where that came from either. It's fucking weird because they're the ones that see these guys the most and beat them up on film day after every game and you would think they could see plain as fucking day that Henderson would wilt running into a determined run stopping front. He was a change of pace not a bellcow for that reason, the Rams just mismanaged the F out of the situation.

But again I never like seeing a player acting up. I've always been in Cam's corner but after all that shit on top of the fact he hasn't been able to do the job for us I am ready for them to move on to someone who can command that role. Thing is we're gonna need him this year IMO so hope he stays healthy this time around.

How to say you lost a discussion without saying you lost an discussion?

Post irrelevant data to try and make a counter point.

It’s okay man, sometimes you are on the losing side :thumbsup1:

Irrelevant? How are losses irrelevant? You don't think they paint a picture of the team that season?

You said mvp type players overcome poor coaching and situation. I provided an example of one not overcoming them, which you refuse to acknowledge by throwing out excuses.

Anyway, cam's the man.

I’ll feeling good about our top 3 RBs. I want to keep adding to the OL to make that a team strength vs a team weakness. So if Bruss doesn’t take a huge step forward then we try McClendon or a FA (like Risner or quality cut). Don’t think Anchrum has enough to be a quality starter.

We are talking about a player at one position vs a player at another position. Correct if I’m wrong but there is at least 25 starters on an NFL that contribute to wins and losses. I know the urge to create a straw man argument is tough to resist but stay with me here!

Did Gurley produce being THE ONLY offensive weapon on that piss poor team with stacked boxes? Yes.

Cam Akers got his lol feelings hurt and refused to play and he wouldn’t be on this team if we could find a trading partner for said reasons.
Anyway, cam's the man.

You can be a Cam fan but also be realistic about him as well.

Idk man the only reason Akers is still here because we couldn’t find a trading partner otherwise he’d be somewhere else.
I don't know either. I know they were trying to trade Akers......because they believed in Samples?.....but then there were also 'issues' with Henderson. Samples again? Like I said, I don't know but Samples (and Henderson) are gone and Akers isn't. Make of that what you want.

Sometimes the Rams make mistakes. I thought Henderson was outperforming Akers up to the point the Rams dumped Henderson for Akers. I know this much, Henderson was a lot tougher inside the 10 yard line than Akers.

Henderson had one gigantic problem: he ran like he was a bigger back. A lot bigger. He ran like he was SJ39–without the results because too often he looked like a fly hitting a windshield.
For some reason it did work when he was smelling end zone.

…but if the Rams get the Akers who finished the season, they’ll be all right. Just hold onto the damn football!!

I am being realistic about him. He looked fantastic in the 2nd half of the 20 season. He looked fantastic in the 2nd half of the 22 season.

I believe he will show the same form this season. Full off season with no injuries and primed to start the season hitting the ground running.

I have for our sake he balls out for a whole season, but mark my words, i think he’ll for sure be traded or let walk after the season if he doesn’t have an offensive MVP season.

looks like all our RBs have one thing in common, they are injury prone and that's bad. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
