If he's just "good", they got solid value, imo.I say if he does well in 2 more games, I'll call him a stud find. For now, I'll say solid, but that was a nice move by Snead.

I heard Jefferson was already looking at properties on the Chattahoochee. He reportedly has always dreamed of being a Van down by the river.
I just noticed like a dummy that the picks are for 2025? Wtf Les? At least a 2024 pick hahahaTo Atlanta…Jefferson &. 25 7th for a 25 6th.
It’s like Les doesn’t even fucking try.
OK I just want to make sure I’m understanding you correctly, we did get a player from the Falcons along with the 2025 (edited from 2024) six round draft pick?….They did but they also bought low since Van didn't do anything to warrant a higher pick. It's possible we use his roster spot to fill the DT spot since Brown is out or we simply sit on that money just in case another need arises. Either way, Van was just rotting on the sideline.
I hope that Dotson can be re-signed after this season ...
No, my bad. I was agreeing with you saying Atlanta did get the better part of the deal. A 2025 pick is basically trading him for a stick of gum lol. Would feel much better if it were at least in 2024.OK I just want to make sure I’m understanding you correctly we did get a player from the Falcons along with the 2024 six round draft pick?….
And I will say this about the van he’s no all-star, but he is a proven commodity within the NFL

I thought the pick swap in the Akers/MN trade were 2026 draft choices.I'm wondering if there is some strategy behind Les taking extra 2025 picks in the trades of both Cam and Van.
We all know that we are going to have monster cap room coming this offseason, enough that they are almost going to have to be players in free agency. If they are players in FA, that will reduce the chances for them getting comp picks in 2025, so maybe this is one way Les makes up for that.
It's purely conjecture on my part, but it's not unreasonable.
Absolutely. If he continues the way he's looked so far, definitely.
Ditto for Okello Witherspoon.
I feel like they really need to. Have a solid young interior group for a few years, potentially.
I just don’t know. Many variables… I think a tackle is more important and Jackson could swing inside, we’ve seen.Whatever happens, if it were me, I'd be drafting another Center/OG rather high in the draft this next year.
The criticism of this trade is a Rorschach test, I guess.
I mean, big picture? Fair to call it a failed pick. Too much value at that spot in other positions for what they ultimately got.
Smaller picture? His best season was the Super Bowl year and he played a critical role in getting the team there. His big TD against Cardinals was so fantastic.
Back to big picture.
So... The Rams now are getting optimal value out of one of their 2nd rounders in Tutu.... and Van is gone not just because he's not of use.. but because the Rams hit an absolute home run with a 5th round pick. So.. big picture.. the team's investment in the position relative to value is pretty fucking incredible.
I don't think so.
Remember, the comp picks are based on what a team loses in free agency compared to what they add.
The Rams have gotten comp picks in recent off-seasons because they have lost players in free agency but signed very few.
In 2023, the Rams lost Gaines, Gay, Rapp, Edwards, Robinson, Long, Hill and a couple others but signed no one. Rypien, Witherspoon, Robinson, Michel and the two Johnsons all were signed after the Draft; and they do not count against the comp pick formula. Accordingly, the Rams will probably get three late round comp picks for the 2024 Draft.
That will probably not be the case this coming off-season, when the Rams will have cap space and should be somewhat active in free agency. The Rams don't have many significant pending free agents. They don't figure to get 2025 compensatory picks because the quality of their net additions (signings) should out-weigh their net losses (Rams leaving).
Thought on Overthecap.com it said we'd only save a few hundred thousand.Don't we save $1.3 mil for the 12 remaining games this season? That's what overthecap seems to indicate.
If we kept him as a depth player this year we'd have to pay him for the next 12 games and the let him walk after the season. If he signed somewhere else, maybe wg'd get a late round comp pick in 2025.
I'm OK with the move.
If they watch his game tape this year, they might not see him at all.If they watch his game tape the last 2 years we may not get that

Edge and Dline are glaring area of need & a legit RB.

You need a Lexus GX 550!Again, you don't need blue font for that, my wife & I pledged we would never own a minivan for the family, SUV's only.
Seems like McSnead are sort of culling dead weight & eliminating locker room issues / distractions. Not that Van was a bad teammate but he seemed to have a tendency to sulk or hang his head when things didn't go well. I'm reminded of that video clip from 2021 where McVay talks to Van on the sideline after a TD...seems like Jefferson had some insecurity or something.
Jefferson, Akers, Ramsey, Gaines, Floyd, etc....maybe the Rams thought that their "victory lap" after the Super Bowl win lasted a bit too long.
