Per rotoworld:
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Rams and contract-year QB Nick Foles have had "initial talks" about a long-term deal.
Per RapSheet, the "target" date for an extension is ahead of Week 1. We're not sure why the Rams would want to do a long-term deal with Foles before he's even played a down for the team and is coming off a shoulder injury, but maybe they see a buy-low window here. That's if they believe Foles' 2013 season wasn't an aberration. (It was.) He's going to be a game manager-type for the Rams.
Seems pretty risky to me but if we can get foles for 10-12 million a year long term now and he plays like a great qb, that would be incredible. On the other hand, if he plays average, then we will be stuck with him at qb for the foreseeable future.
