...Huh?

The Rams were targeting Hendon Hooker is an educated guess also known as a hypothesis.

The Lions traded 1 pick in front of the Rams to select Hendon Hooker, Brad Holmes has intimate familiarity with the Rams FO, and the Rams traded down immediately after Hooker was selected. These are all facts that support the hypothesis also known as evidence.

You can debate the validity of the evidence, but by definition it's still evidence.
You’re right…I should have been more precise.

It is weak circumstantial evidence. To actually prove that the Rams’ intended to take Hooker will take a lot more than that.

It is equally, if not more, likely that the Lions believed the Rams would take Hooker, while Rams never intended to do so, and traded for unrelated reasons.

I have no problem with the theory. We may later learn from true inside sources that we were, in fact, on Hooker’s trail, but were beaten to the punch. Until then, it’s just a theory.

I love this discussion.

If you look at our team the past six years you can see where our talent has mostly come from. In the rounds we have many picks.

In this league it is not about having a few great players, but more good players. We still have AD, Kupp, and Stafford. As well as other pretty damn good to great players. This is chess, not free agent checkers.

We lost a bunch of talent in this off season. It is a team sport. We all love to see how this talent does with a different team around them. I for one will be paying attention. I just love this game.

This year will be interesting to say the least. But don't be surprised if we do much better than most of us think.

Leadership is dedicated. No doubt about that.

After two days of the draft, the Rams have a decent collection of players thus far. I believe Avila was a solid pick and the other two defenders might be a little raw. but have plenty of potential upside. The Rams seem to coach up these types of players, as evidenced by other players leaving the Rams and not performing nearly as well.

The Lions knew we wanted to trade down this draft and pickup picks. They might have traded in front of us to make sure we didn’t trade out to someone else who wanted Hooker.

I still want more physicality in the defensive front. If they don't address that we're gonna get trucked on defense and lose a lot of games.

So the trade downs did hurt them irt the Edge options. I do think that is true. They could have had Hall or Tuli, guys of that tier but they took the hit in that range and accepted going with a rush specialist that needs some dev. It was purposeful and they knew what they were doing.

OL at least is done. It's nice to get that taken care of early. But like Les said they let the draft speak to them and took what they did to its strengths so in part we can thank the top edge options going off like they did. Rumors are they tried to move up for Edge and Kincaid. They did confirm they made calls. Well shit happened and they're sitting round 2 and OL has a ton of guys so take OL. Practicality is important, that's what good teams do. That's how you end up with a good draft.

Defense really needs some TLC though. No idea if they're done on edge, hope not actually, but we need another DT plus at least one good corner who can give us starter quality snaps. At this point I don't know that this is gonna happen. Plus a QB and a K. Hoping the rest of this thing is very strong on defense but either way let's see what the roster looks like when they're done. I'm concerned of course but gonna wait and see.

can't do it all in the draft. they will have to pick through the remaining free agents to plug holes.

when a quality player like leonard floyd is still available you'd think there are many more players that can help the rams.

We don't have many players. We're going to load up on draft picks and UDFA and we have a history of solid player development

How about Quantity and Quality?

They need competent bodies and looks like they got three. Avila looks like a beast and should be a day 1 starter. I think they may still draft a center.

They have.. 10 more picks!!

Just a thought

I am ecstatic that we finally drafted a quality road grader OL in this draft.

The other two picks look like rotation guys that can really help on certain downs their rookie year.

Young looks to be a beast on 3rd down and long to really help Donald out.

And Turner looks like a guy we can bring in on 3rd and short or goal line situations.

The second year is when they will show if they can play most downs.

I am liking this draft so far.

Agree but I think it's nine picks today.

The Rams gave-up one of their sixth rounders in the trade-back with Houston.

Between the Draft and signing undrafted free agents starting tonight (most agree to terms within 24-36 hours of the Draft), the Rams could add 25-30 players by late-Sunday / early-Monday.

Hopefully, a few will turn-out well.

In jumping us they also jumped in front of the Raiders which could have been a team targeting Hooker. I know I'd add a QB if my guy was Jimmy G and Brian Hoyer was his backup.

McVay has recently said in an interview there won't be a mad rush to get to the full 90. They likely end up 5-10 short of that and wait on a few things. He stressed it's more important to get the right guys than just fill to 90.

Agree but two points to consider.

The Rams only had 44 players on their roster entering the Draft. They could add 30 more with their selections and undrafted free agents signed right after the Draft, and still only have 74 players and be well under (by 16) the 90-man-limit.

The other point is that the most attractive undrafted players typically agree to terms within a short time after the Draft. Sometimes within hours. If the Rams are serious about using the undrafted-free-agent-route to upgrade the roster, they will have to move quickly this evening and tomorrow.

I'm not predicting they add 46 players by tomorrow to get to 90. However, I do think it will be at least 25-30.

That's not evidence, its a hypothesis.

If there is someone in the Rams' building funneling information to Holmes, though, he or she should be fired immediately.

Well if true, Detroit did us a favor. We needed big interior Oline alot more than a QB. Oline makes the world go round.
