Some people don’t in the media touting Mahomes as more of a favorite for the MVP after that game.

If it was Goff they’d say no QB can throw three pics and fumble twice in a that kind of primetime game be the MVP. Goff has been as good as him all year and beat him on the same stage last year.

What’s the argument for it not being Goff? Anyone?

Brees is at the top. But I have Goff ahead of Mahomes. Sorry “Showtime.”

People act like the Chiefs are gonna walk to the Super Bowl. Well...Andy Reid’s history, his young QB, and the Steelers, Patriots and Chargers might want have a say.

Steelers have their number in post season, Mahomes is a difference maker, but if the game is close I could see Pittsburgh getting a call go their way and Kansas City fans seeing Red.

Yeah Pittsburgh is improving week to week and are playin great ball right now. They also have a strong ball control game with a power/downhill runner and while all that's not currently in vogue, it remains a great way to kill the clock and keep the game tight with a better offense. The old Parcells strat.

Agreed. Regular season is offense offense offense in terms of who everyone thinks will win it all. But of this playoff field, with all the potent offenses, the winner is still probably going to be a team that can get the D clicking.

Rams get Talib back. Chargers just got Bosa back. Belichick can always improve his units somehow, and so forth and so on. Young players are coming along on the rosters too. Defense is still going to matter when the playoffs start and having an elite offense is a huge advantage but doesn't guarantee squat.

I'm confused as to all the Mahomes love. Sure, he threw for a lot of yards. Yeah, he put 6 touchdowns on the scoreboard, which is a great total. He also threw a pick 6. He also lost a fumble for a defensive touchdown. He lost a 2nd fumble which turned into a touchdown. That's 21 points for the Rams he coughed up, which wipes out half of his touchdowns. He threw TWO picks in the final 2 minutes.

This is like saying "my pitcher threw a no hitter in a 12-11 game...he had a few walks".

He's got a good point though.

If the game was in KC and the Rams gave up 5 turnovers and 2 defensive scores (along with 5 sacks) the Chiefs winning by only 3 is not likely.

I don't see anyone getting to the SB out of the AFC but them.

Or we can look at it as, what if the majority of the Chiefs personnel had to evacuate their homes last minute due to fires, flew hundreds of miles out to another state to practice just to turn around and fly back bc of location changes all while losing practice time, put in many hours of community service to help those victims of the fire and the shooting, limit their running game bc their rb looks to have had a stinger in the First quarter...do they still lose? If you think they lose with those distractions then we are the better team bc we won under those circumstances.

It seems like many view the D as almost like a nonfactor. Offense should be what determines a good team, defense is just there. They dismiss the fact that the point of a good D is to not only stop the opposing offense, but also set up their offense in good situations. Our secondary made throws extremely easy of Mahomes, but our front put us in very good positions at time, and we took advantage.

Michael Robinson simply said Goff's mechanics resemble Tom Brady's and everyone lost their shit, that blonde lady is not very good at what she does...christ, keep your cool....

I don't think it's that's sacrilegious to compare the two. Nobody is crowning Goff, simply just making an observation that imo is pretty accurate.

Props to host of the NFL channel video demanding to know why Goff isn't getting enough credit. Reggie Wayne admitted he felt Goff was going to be a bust based on rookie year performance. Fair enough. Kid was missing open receivers weekly.Whatever, that experience was huge! Love how host concluded with reminder that dating back to week 1 of last season, Jared Goff leads league in wins. FACT!!

Cowherd is mischarachterizing the game in some ways though.

Yes . COWHERD bad mouthed the RAMS defense, but failed to note . The defender (Hill?) fell down on that bomb for a TD... Not that there isn't room for some defensive criticisml.

Watching these videos. I'm at the one with Maurice Jones-Drew and...I think the interviewer is Rich Eisen?

At 1:40, he's talking about how teams that scored 50 points in a game were 216-0 until last night. And then he thinks he's pointing out some weird stat by going it's now 217-1, stating "there was a win AND a loss added to that ledger last night. It's crazy!" Like, can you believe that shit! Who wo

Well....yeah Rich...that's (a win and a loss being "added to the ledger") kind of how it's going to go every time a team scores 50 and loses, buddy. Not too many 51-49 games where the team that scores 51 loses.... 21st century "journalism", I swear.

.

oh man that cowherd is a funny guy.

so the chiefs are better because guys were running wide open all game while the rams have goff who beats coverage with the perfect throw? did he see mahomes when guys weren't running wide open? it wasn't pretty, 5 turnovers. i know which i'd prefer.

.
I think Cowherd is actually a Rams fan.
He's always talked about them and he is a huge fan of Goff

is a total discredit to our defense

The defense is HORRIBLE right now. They don't deserve any credit. Yeah a few good plays, but overall they got rag dolled.

A team just score 51 points while coughing up 5 turnovers.

That's virtually impossible to do.

I'm happy the Rams won, very happy. But the defense can't be glossed over because of a few great plays while fucking up the rest of the game.

I don't think a majority of the Rams had to evacuate.

I don't think the location change did anything but help the Rams.

They didn't really lose much practice time if any. And they didn't fly out then turn right around and fly back.

I don't know what players did community service since they flew in less than 48 hours before the game. They did a lot before hand but I'm guessing that prior to the game not much was done based on time constrictions.

The Chiefs right now look like a better team to me.

Fact is there is LOTS of room for criticism of the defense. It's terrible. And if it doesn't get fixed the Rams are not going to get to the SB.

Goff and the O rescued this game which was a complete disaster on the part of the defense.

Something has to change..........fast. The last month has been horrific and the home stretch is here. Luckily other than the Bears nobody looks good enough to actually beat the Rams. But in the playoffs that's going to be a different story. The Saints will be either coming to town or hosting the Rams again..........they have a slightly harder slate ahead of them so the Rams could end up with home field. Which is good.

But this shitshow on defense has got to be at least somewhat fixed or this season, which has all the markings of a magic carpet ride, could go down the drain.

If defense averages more than 25 PPG from here on out sign me up for the Todd Bowles for Rams DC 2019 campaign!

Phillips historically doesn't stay with any organization for more than 3 years.

90 members of the personnel have been evacuated since the fires started, including Goff and Whitworth. The fires have been going on just 3 miles outside of their facility.

Traveling is most definitely a factor when playing games, and the fact that they had to travel pretty much for no reason and did lose practice time because of it, gives KC an advantage considering they stayed put until it was time.

Many players of the Rams have been putting in a bunch of effort to help with the disasters going on as of late. Its been one of the biggest talking points these last couple weeks.

Chiefs did very well against us and very much could have won, my point is is that while the Chiefs had some struggles on the field, to act like the Rams had it easier is just not even comparable. Imo us coming back being down 21 in NO is MUCH harder than coming up against the Chiefs at home, simply bc NO is better than KC. Again, my opinion.

A lot of talk about McVay's questionable play calling on that series to try to ice the game and run clock....which is definitely a valid discussion.

What about just prior to that when Andy Reid down by just 3 points (44-47) with 3 TO's in his pocket (when the Rams had none) moving deep into Rams territory? Chiefs had a 1st and 10 at the Rams 23 yard line with 3 min left and didn't use the clock AT ALL.

Chiefs could have easily starved any chance the Rams had in even having a comeback TD drive...if they had just been more patient once they crossed midfield. We all knew KC was going to score, and with a fist full of TO's they had an entire playbook to go get 7 to take the lead or at the very least 3 to tie if shit went wrong...and either way, leave no time on the clock at all for the Rams.

I thought we were finished at that point. Reid would use the clock and score and Goff would probably not even see the field again.

Dumb. Thanks Andy.

Good point.

I understand the "score when you can" and that makes sense.

But on this particular night a little bit of patience may have changed the outcome.

Also I thought it was dumb to not work the sidelines on the last drive before the second INT but was glad to see Mahomes throwing completions to guys who got tackled. They were forced to use their last timeout just past their own 20. Poor play calling or whatever, but they seemed to forget that the clock was ticking.

Yea, I was worried there. Under 4:00 at the Rams 40 or so. One player runs out of bounds to stop the clock. The penalty (I didn't like at all) stopped the clock again and gave them 10 more yards. Could very easily have been under 2:00 minutes with no timeouts for us. I don't think any of it was Reid's fault per se.

Goff still would have pulled it out though.
