the only trouble with your scenario is if we had all those picks no one know who we might have picked. we also gave 2 2nd rounders for petters. anyhow that's a lot of picks and maybe we would have hit on 2 or 3 ol men that weren't injury Pron. i know a lot of posters say high draft picks are a crap shoot but doesn't that make the lower picks even greater crap shoot. plus if we had those draft pick we would have had more cap space and could have picked up some veteran back ups.
Those draft picks would not have made up for all the injuries.

IMO the FO isn't going to panic. Their projected starters at this point, are Noteboom (assuming he can return from his Achilles because it's no given), Jackson, Shelton Bruss, and Havenstein have enough experience and talent to be a better than average OL. IMO Achrum will be coached up as a backup C, and Thomas IMO will play swing OT/OG but he looks like a guy that can play, particularly at OG. Jackson is one of those rare tall guys that can play low enough to play OG. That IMO is Edwards' problem, i.e. he plays too upright ergo he losses the leverage battle.

This team needs an Edge and with their high second round pick, they should be able to get a good one. They need a RB and the 3rd round is the traditional round to grab one. Some low 1st to 2nd round rated RB will drop and with their high 3rd round pick they will get a good RB. Their OL needs depth and they have 3 picks in the 6th round. But I think Snead will use the pick they got from the Titans in the Woods trade to pick up two 7th round picks to grab a couple of the priority UDFA types.

i don't know how you can say those picks would not have made up for all the injuries because if we got a durable lt, center and 2 durable veterans than noteboom and allen are good backups for a few games. i think that would have a big deference in the ol. i could be wrong after all i was wrong once before.

You can’t presume a drafted player or veteran would be any more durable than the ones who were injured.

Moreover, the term “durable” is overused. If a 280 lb. man falls on the side of your knee, you’re getting injured. Durability only goes so far.

Yeah I get that or the classic "Every team has to deal with injuries" line. I'm like, no... you don't understand.... and I explain but they still refuse to understand for some reason. Oh well, I'm looking forward to the team being healthy next year and shutting people back up.
They refuse to understand. A truer statement could not be made. It is one of our biggest flaws. We make up our minds about something and no amount of facts or common sense will make us see. Either we are to stupid or we just can't not be right. Although, if your friends are like mine, they also can't pass up a chance to rub the Rams failures in my face after last year. Injuries or not. Like it will take away the SB win. LOL

Undoubtedly this year is a disaster with unheard of injury numbers. I'd be interested in hearing some analysis about how its possible for this many OL to go down in a season. There has to be an underlying cause and I don't think it is just dumb luck or the extended season during the SB run last year.

Off season program, equipment failures, practice field conditions, too much turf, all of the above????

I'm sure the Rams players and FO would like some answers too, whatever it is, there need to be changes given consideration to not allow it to repeat.
Shit Happens. That's whose fault it is.

Yeah that is like saying it was destiny and I’m not buying it. This is an example of systemic failure and I’d bet all my ROD dollars they are looking for answers about how to avoid a repeat.

No, it is not like saying it's destiny. Destiny is a purpose. Destiny would be like saying everything happens for a reason. Or god works in mysterious ways.
What I am saying is sometimes something happens and it's nobody's fault.

Yeah ok, 1 guy maybe 2 with the same thing, this year’s oline is not that.

I don't know @blackbart.

If there was some reason(s) for all the Rams' OL injuries, that would suggest something changed since last year. The coaches, training staff, medical team, practice and playing surfaces all seem to be the same.

As far as history under McVay, the success of the Rams is directly-tied to health and continuity on the O-Line.

In 2017 and 2018, the Rams were 1st or 2nd the NFL in scoring. In those two seasons, not a single OL-starter missed a single game due to injury. In 2019, the Rams had injuries on the O-Line. They finished 9-7 and missed the playoffs. They had good OL health in 2020, made the playoffs and won a playoff-game in Seattle. Last year, the Rams had very good OL-health.

Not saying that it's only bad fortune and luck; and I agree the Rams should consider and look into possibilities. However, until I read something that makes sense, I am leaning towards misfortune.

Well for sure there have been several Rams and other players complaining about the Sofi turf and turf in general including Kupp.

With that kind of $$$ invested in the franchise, not looking for answers would be stupid. Whether or not anything comes out publicly, who knows.

So... if you're talking to someone who is under 25 (I presume people don't remember football from when they were 3 or less), and they're not a fan of the Patriots or one of the four listed above, they can talk all they want, but they wish their team had our team's hardware.
*heads down to local community college to find some under 25 yr olds to trash talk*

Who cares what other people say?

We got to enjoy a championship last year. We've enjoyed 2 since the 1999 season.

Putting aside Patriots fans, who are in a different stratosphere from everyone else, you know how many fan bases have enjoyed more than 2 championships since 1999? Zero.

How many have, like us, enjoyed two? Four: Giants, Ravens, Steelers, Buccaneers.

Well, I don't think it is the training staff due to the history up to now. If I was going to point to a cause for all these leg and ankle injuries on the Oline, I would say it is caused by an overall lack of talent on the front five. From the very first game, this line was getting pushed around. which would lead to being off balance getting pushed into teammates legs and also getting knees in awkward positions. Now we know that even good lineman get injured, but the best lines don't get decimated by injuries because they are pushing the defense around and doing the knocking down. Usually it is mediocre to bad lines. So if you want to blame someone it would be the front office and coaching. Lets face it this line from most of the board here's perspective was a "hope this line is good enough". It wasn't.

not sure but it sounds like you are saying that injuries are just a matter of luck. so players that go hole careers with very few injuries are just lucky no 280 pounder hits them in the side of the knee. that does not take into account that some players have stronger ligaments and bones than others (see todd gurly).

Nheske and Havenstein didn't give up a single pressure I think I read. That's nice and wonderful that the LT's injury was minor last week. The middle is still bad but not Evans bad at least. Hopefully our patchwork line can stay together rest of year to at least give our offense a chance to showcase some players such as Atwell, Akers, Williams, etc.

Injuries are due, to a large extent, to luck, or lack thereof.

Snead/McVay might want to go ahead & start planning to beef up the LT position now for the future to help protect #9 going into the future. Mega amounts of this Ram teams assets (past/present/future) to bring #9 to the Rams.

Rams did well to lock up the RT position with a trio of RT players ....veteran Havenstein with youngsters Arcuri & Pircher. They need to do the same @ the LT position. With the current two ( Noteboom/ Jackson) under contract LT's 2023 availability in question, now is the time to begin to build up that LT position

Need to tie up a veteran 37 LT Ty Nsekhe now for the 2023 season while he can be had & for a low economy-priced salary.
