All businesses take advantage of their customers, that’s how they make a profit, make money, stay in business, and grow as a business. Name a company that is growing, and you’ll see if you look hard enough how they take advantage of their customers in order to grow. Some are just are just doing it in plain sight, while others are are more stealthy in their thievery.

Politics, mainly. Location somewhat, but mainly politics.

If they were going to close a school because of its age and decrepitness, Whittier High was by far the oldest. There was pressure to close La Serna, but since it was in Friendly Hills the rich neighborhood that wasn't going to happen, and it was in good repair anyway.

Nice to read about others who grew up in the same area. I was born in Whittier Presbyterian hospital. My mom was Whittier High class of '49. She was a secretary for the Superintendant of East Whittier School District for almost 20 years. I had a job in the Summers working on the Grounds crew, maintaining the landscaping at the elementary and Junior highs while attending La Habra High.

The Kroenke/Walton family are the biggest stakeholder in Wal-Mart, surprised that name hasn't popped up yet. I'd certainly be surprised if they allowed Amazon to out bid them, although they may not even try. Netflix Stadium could also bring together that Hollywood aspect in L.A. jmo.
