The receiving corps looks to be scary good, especially when coupled with an effective intent by McVay/Stafford to distribute the ball all over.
And to think we didn't even really use DJax, Tutu, or Jacob Harris. Yea the receiving weapons on this team are fucking STACKED.

1. Stafford showed the NFL just how good he can be if given the weapons.
2. Allen and the entire OL played lights out against a pretty damn good defensive front. These guys looked like they can play with anyone.
3. Jefferson showed he's the deep threat he could be. He's sneaky fast and with good hands.
4. What we saw was the early version of McVay's offense. It was clear he was holding back simply allowing his offense to work the kinks out. But what was clear is that the days of the simplistic outside zone run attack are gone. Inside gap blocking, would be better with a lead block to truly play power run.
5. I don't like Morris' version of drop, sit and react version of zone. The QB can throw to anyone inside of 5 yds uncontested. But he did tighten it up on 4th and short.
6. Rochell played well for his first game snaps. This kid is going to be special. His playing with Ramsey is going to really elevate his play quickly. If they lose D. Williams like they might, I'm more than happy with Rochell. He's going to be lights out in his 3rd year.
7. Stafford must think he's in heaven with so many weapons. He's used them all, but it's clear Kupp is going to be his #1 man.
8. As the season goes on this team is going to be an absolute monster on both sides.
9. Morris said, he didn't care about stats, and that is clear by the way he plays his defense. I may not personally like it but he showed tonight his defense can be good. He was more than happy to let the Bears dink, dunk and grind with their offense killing clock....time they couldn't afford because they were in a shootout with an offense that only allowed Hekker one punt. It worked because when he had to make the 4th down stops he tightened down the screws and it worked.
10. Give credit to where credit is due. I knew the Bears were good enough to beat you if you screwed up and they showed it. If anything it should drive any complacency the Rams might feel when they look at the game film.
11. The next 4 weeks will show just how good or not this team is. If they have a weakness it's going to show in these next 4 games. If they sweep them, this team will show they can absolutely beat anyone. I feel that the real competition this year will be within the NFCW. Sweep the division they make the playoffs and they will be SB bound.
I agree with alot of this especially the part about the next 4 weeks. A few division games and the Tampa game will really give us an indicator of how improved this team is, if they are. The Hawks, Cards and Tampa all have some dangerous pass rush to consider, but they also have major deficiencies in their secondaries. Scheme and Oline will be tested and if they can pass Stafford could have a field day, if they can't hold up it will be long days.

Regarding Morris version of the drop sit and react - as you put it - It definitely appeared that was the strategy, but I counted no less than 5 times that Long was beaten in pass defense. If you count the early hit on the WR that jarred the ball lose and fortunately did not get called. And yes he was there too early. But If Long was replaced by Rochell and he was able to shut down the WR's how much of a sit and react do you think it would have look like?

The two deep TD's were nice, but that rocket over middle to the back of the endzone that Woods toe tapped was the best play of the game.
That was the perfect play for me. Stafford had pressure, Khalil Mack pressure, and he stayed calm, kept his eyes on the prize, took one small step forward which was barely enough to keep Mack barely touching him, and delivered a laser in traffic to the only spot his guy could catch it. Showed poise, smarts, and trust in his receiver. Was the perfect cap to the day.
Rochell was the only rookie I saw get any snaps but he made them quality snaps.
Yeah he did, that kid is going to be special. Out of all our stellar draft class I think he ultimately ends up the best of them all. I'm not sure he'd have played if Long didn't get injured but was quality snaps as mentioned to give him some confidence.

Rookies in general I think McVay was keeping them on the sideline if he could help it for this game. It was week 1, Sunday Night football so extra pressure, and he didn't want to put amped up rookies out there like that. That's asking for mistakes. I suspect that's why Kupp was the punt returner too... hopefully that'll change. I expect to see a few more get sprinkled in over the next several weeks.
It goes a little deeper than that for this weirdo.

He seems to resent the amount of attention McVay gets and receives around the NFL.
I mean.. what the f....?
McVay has a very strong, positive attitude and is a winner.... some people just can't handle seeing someone like that. Generally people who have the opposite traits.... weak, negative attitude and been a loser a lot in their life. It's not hard to be negative towards someone like that on a hated rival but when it's your own coach who took your team out of the dark ages.... that takes a special kind of sad.

It's weird because despite the TOP and lack of run game it was prob the most impressive and certainly the most explosive offense we've seen here in.....? A long time.
According to PFF we had more plays of 15 or more yards than any other team this week. Yes that means more than Kansas City and all of these other offenses that people think are so much better than ours.

Makes one wonder why Mack (or anyone else deserves to be paid more than AD99!)

I like to browse opposition fan boards after a win to get a feel for what they think about our team. They mostly ragged on their team. And quite a few feel they got fleeced giving multiple picks for Mack. They feel he's become a slightly above average pass rusher. No longer elite.

I thought there should have been a lot more pressure against a suspect OL. Maybe they weren’t trying until late in the game, who knows.
Oh, they were trying. Problem is, the Bears' game plan was to get the ball out quickly and not let the rush get there. And it worked for much of the game. But the Bears were not able to sustain it for most of their drives, and ended up stalling.

Still, the 8-9 yard runs they were ripping off were very frustrating and discouraging. As were all the short completions. But then, maybe the Rams were simply playing to keep everything in front of them. I dunno. But if they play like that against Brady, it will get very ugly.

yep, when dalton was forced to hang onto the ball he got a ton of pressure on him. all those quick passes because the d was playing soft kept dalton clean until they needed more than 5 yard passes.

brady needs to get whacked, like any qb. whack him and he will make mistakes. won't be able to whack him if you're playing soft.

I'd feel that way if I was them, the guy just hasn't been as dominating for a couple seasons now. He is good and is a valuable player to have but not sure I'd call him elite anymore. He's an outside edge rusher who hasn't cracked double digit sacks for years now.

arrggghhhh, i'm so bummed akers got injured.

he would have tore up the league with stafford making sure the defense backed off a little.

once DCs play more cautiously with stafford out there henderson is gonna start slashing through the front 7.

A Stafford bomb is a beautiful thing to see. And we got 2 of them! And he's still learning the offense. Big kudos to Matthew for coming out firing in his fantastic debut. I'm still hungover with happiness to be 1-0 this way.

Maybe I've been jaded by all those losing seasons. A part of me is so excited for what this team is capable of. But another part of me remains cautiously optimistic. I know how things can change during a long season. But for the next week I'm gonna enjoy it.

I appreciate what Goff did for us. Been a long time since we had that kind of offense in 2017 and 2018. But Matthew Stafford is on a whole different level. He could easily be among the elite with QB's like Rogers, Brady, Brees, etc. He has a great coach and supporting cast now. We saw a glimpse of how good he can be last night.

One thing stands out to me.
The Rams had 9 possessions..scored on 6 of them...1 closed the half, 1 ended the game and just 1 punt

Thats pretty friggin awesome in my book
