He’s only 38 years old. Why rush to go coach some terrible New York team?
I'm sure something along the lines was said:
"He's only 30 years old, why rush to go coach a terrible Rams team? QB is a bust, no 1st round picks, blah blah blah...."
I believe that any coach at the NFL level has to have an incredibly huge ego, and that ego will allow them to believe that they can build a winner no matter how bleak the circumstances.
And the Jets from a potential HC perspective? Likely to get Lawrence, and still have a 1st round pick. Franchise LT, good WR core. Defense? You think Quinnen Williams wouldnt look at his future different if a Staley came on?
Jets have the money, and arent afraid to spend it, they just dont know what to spend it on....

It's the challenge, obviously. McVay came here with the challenge to build up the league's shittiest offense. Couldn't get worse so the actual challenge was "how much" improvement. Same with Staley. He met the challenge here, might want to take on the challenge elsewhere, for even more money. Staley is looking at the "dollah" figures and it's a big draw (duh!). He's 100% gone, but can he leave his defensive playbook with notes to our next DC? ;)

I know what you mean, I just don’t want him to leave.

Even Lawrence knows what I’m talking about

This is very good news. Put's a further disadvantage to HC candidates whose team is in the playoffs.
The deeper we go the better our chance is of keeping our other genius, coaching our D for one more year.

The NFL informed teams Monday that no team can hold in-person interviews with GM or coaching candidates until the end of the regular season. If the candidate is on a team that's in the playoffs, that candidate cannot interview in person until their playoff run is complete.

This is obviously aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19. A coach or personnel staffer who meets with someone outside their team's "bubble" could unknowingly carry the virus back into the team facilities. So this hiring cycle will be mostly conducted on video conferencing platforms.

Can’t help but admire the boundless wisdom of the NFL.

Help prevent covid— keep Brandon Staley with the Rams!!

Well if Staley leaves there is that one defensive coordinator the Colts have that is a genius... what’s his name?

Well the horrible performance of the d today may have ensured that Staley won't get any offers any time soon.

3rd and 5 with the game on the line and a 40 year old rb is left alone right in front of the qb for an easy completion and winning the game. Putrid.

He definitely is not as hot as he was after the Patriots game. If you can’t stop the Jets offense you’re not ready.

You guys are funny in thinking that 1 game puts Staley on the Map for Head Coaching gigs, or that 1 ugly loss takes him out of the mix. If teams have an open position, they're likely accumulating their list.
Sure didnt hurt McVay when his offense crapped the bed down the stretch causing the Redskins to miss the playoffs entirely
I'm not advocating either way regarding his coaching future, just saying that the Jets disaster didnt change things one way or the other

And why didn't McVay think of that??? lol
