Regarding QB arm strength. They said that about Drew Brees as a rookie and IMO his throws were much like Perkins. But arm strength is something that can be improved with a proper training regime. Brees dedicated himself to improving it and started immediately after he got benched in San Diego. His arm strength improved dramatically in less than one year. That following year was his contract year. His deep ball continued to improve over the following couple of years. So weak arms don't mean as much as accuracy and reading his progressions. Perkins has good accuracy for the most part and he has shown he can go through his progressions. Strengthening his arm is a matter of physical training.

The Rams would be foolish not to carry 3 QBs simply for Covid considerations. As long as Covid is a reality then IMO teams will begin to carry 3 QBs particularly if you want to contend for a Super Bowl. Kyler Murray has shown the limitations of a QB that can't read defenses. His career will be cut short if he is to be considered part of the normal run rotation. He has just realized that, which is why Cam Turner is now his QB coach. Cam is Norv Turner's son, and Norv was a key part of Philip River's development.

IMO Perkins is the type of QB the NFL will begin to trend towards. Basically a pocket passer with good running capability. That is what makes Mahomes so dangerous. He can beat you with his head and arm as well as his legs. Murray is a two read and run QB.

Perkin's run in the 4th quarter IMO sealed it for him. I think it made him #3QB. We saw how the backside rollout was something McVay liked. With Perkins, it can be an even bigger threat as he's a legit runner capable of getting 10-15 yds if the backside isn't covered.

Aaron Rodgers in his prime was a good example of a pocket passer with good mobility.

Perkins was overrated and preseason is a hype train..

Long live John Wolford.

McVay didn't play the Wolf tonight for a reason.

He knows that Wolf is the best backup he's had since he's been the Rams head coach.

Wolf was McVay's choice last season over Goff for a reason.

It's too bad he got hurt being careless at Seattle last postseason.

Without a doubt.

I’m glad he’s out backup. I will say Perkins as a 3rd he’s not bad.

This preseason, Tutu has the most targets without a drop in the entire NFL.

Crisp routes with good separation.

Clean catches on punts with some good returns.

Easy, effortless catches as a WR.

I see plenty to be optimistic about in Tutu.
I agree.
And I was not a fan of that pick at all in the second round.

Do you watch on Game Pass?

This is my first season back in the UK after 15 years of having Sunday Ticket and I'm weighing up my options.

I'm in the back of beyond and not got brilliant internet, but I can just about stream as I'm not keen on watching on my Mac.

I do have Sky Sports so will get the games they play.

DAZN here in Canada.

They have NFL gamepass rights. All games are live, and can be watched recorded later in condensed or full broadcast.

It’s pretty good.

Well I watched the game on the later NFL network airing at 12 CST. Here are my takeaways:

Evans and Brewer are garbage. Sorry to say it. But I don't watch them smelling a regular season game or we are in deep trouble. Some of you wanted to see Evans at RT. There you go. His first few snaps were train wrecks. His technique is just terrible.

A.Jackson and Anchrum - These guys are a long ways away from being able to compete on Sunday. Both got beat repeatedly if you watch the game close. Not as much as Evans and Brewer but still.

Shelton/Kolone - see above. None of our backups are going to help.

Meredith - Finally got beat on a stunt. But overall had his third straight solid game. His ability to keep his head on a swivel and pick up the stunter or blitzer is top notch. His ability to lock on to a man and stonewall him is top notch. He is our best backup and it isn't close. He might get practice Squad because he's a rookie, but if I was running this team he would dress on Sundays.

Hopkins - Still has a ways to go but he showed up these last two games. Credit where credit is due.

Tutu - I have poopooed the Tutu but credit where credit is due. He turned in a really solid preseason. A few drops at the end of the game but overall he has shown great hands as a WR and as a PR. He has shown a great ability to get open and run excellent routes. I'm starting to like the kid. Let's see what he can do in the real season.

Perkins - He is a long ways from being able to make NFL throws. Can he develop that? Honestly I doubt it. But i am rooting for him. He is a great guy and has lots of good qualities. Poise. Feel for the pocket. Scrambling. Short passing accuracy. His quick processing is pretty good and should get better with another year. Decision making should improve as well.

Jacob Harris - Lots of hype. Some undeniable measurables and ability to get open. Going to need time. It's almost a risk to play in right now. But I am sure he will get some shots.

Jones - The kid has ability. Can't pass pro to save his life but does have the ability to make people miss.

Hoecht - This guy can play. Going to be interesting to see if he sneaks onto the 53.

Reed/Hughes - Both showed solid play again. Reed is probably ready to play on Sundays. Hughes is almost there.

Garrett - He is the real deal. Watching him in some plays away from the action and he is beating his guy consistently. I hope they unleash him on Sundays.

Lewis - Got some action in this game. Going to come down to his health. He doesn't have the pass rush skills and slippery ability to get into the backfeild of Garrett, but against a run heavy team he is going to be valuable.

Bojorquez - Dam. This guy is impressive. I can't complain if he wins the job. Hekker is a fun dude but the production/salary might force the Rams hand here as shitty as that is.

Five takeaways from Rams' 17-12 preseason loss to Broncos

The Rams fell to the Broncos 17-12 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado, but their preseason finale still featured multiple noteworthy performances – especially on special teams and defense.

Here are five takeaways from the contest:

1) Big night for punter Corey Bojorquez

Bojorquez averaged 55.4 yards per punt across five punts, one of which went for 70 yards and bounced out of bounds at the Broncos 1-yard line, another going for 67 yards and getting downed at the Broncos 19-yard line.

The Bellflower, California native also had a 48-yard punt that, aided by tight end Brycen Hopkins and linebacker Christian Rozeboom on the coverage team, landed at the Broncos 1-yard line.

2) Preseason closes with Bryce Perkins playing the entire game once again

It was expected with John Wolford dressing solely as an emergency option, and indeed, Perkins played the entirety of Saturday night's game in Denver.

Perkins completed 23 of 42 pass attempts for 201 yards, leading the Rams on four scoring drives (all field goals by kicker Matt Gay). Three of those scoring drives came against a Broncos defense playing several of its projected starters.

Perkins also rushed nine times for 50 yards and led the Rams within striking distance of a potential game-winning touchdown on the final drive.

3) Bringing the pressure

The front seven nabbed a couple highlights via the play of defensive lineman Michael Hoecht and outside linebacker Chris Garrett.

Hoecht got past two Broncos offensive linemen to notch a sack-forced fumble on Broncos quarterback Drew Lock, which Hoecht then recovered. The play set up a 30-yard field goal by Gay to cut the Rams' deficit to one at halftime. In addition to the sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery, Hoecht had four total tackles (one for loss) and one QB hit.

Garrett also got to Lock, and while Lock surprisingly managed to escape Garrett's grasp, it was promising to see him get that kind of pressure again after the performance he had against the Raiders.

4) Gay adds to good special teams night

Adding to a solid night for Rams special teams – wide receiver Jeremiah Haydel had a 40-yard kick return – Gay went 4-for-4 on his field goal attempts from distances of 23 yards (twice), 54 and 30 yards, accounting for all of Los Angeles' points.

5) Outside linebacker Terrell Lewis sees action

After returning to practice this week, Lewis saw snaps in Saturday night's game against the Broncos. He finished with one pass breakup, but it led to Rozeboom's interception.

I watch on gamepass in Ireland, I liked it a lot, I got the games I wanted, plus I could watch the condensed games last year if I was shorter on time.

I'll be getting it again now that I'm back here.

Yea true hes played decent. And Lawler will be a major piece. Just a little eerie with our injuries and lack of depth at edge. Who are our top edge guys if Obo and Lewis are hurt? Floyd, Lawler, Garrett? Not too much talent there IMO.
Leonard Floyd is going to be Tops in the NFL.Lawler is the backup.I like what Garrett is bringing to the table.Lewis was really testing his knee.He got the deflection on the Int by Rosenbloom.
Hoecht is what makes this Franchise Great. Those Big 3 DT’s just push each other. Bobby Brown & Robinson going down just shows the depth The Rams bring in.

Denver played their starters for the first half and our third and second stringers stuck with the Bronc starters no problem.
...and then I was confused about why we couldn't handle their scrubs after that.

Btw was anybody else annoyed by the way Fangio was trying to win the game at the end? I remember Asshole Face putting a target on his back like that a few years ago.

Preseason game and no more OT, I don't see an issue with it, as far as I'm considered it's good practice. Teams could dress starters and prep with tape and a real gameplan for all I care, it's their thing.

We weren't even rolling out most of our backups, these games aren't important.
