Not at all.So damned if doesn’t damned if does
I am just of the mind that the MFer who is worth the big contract is the one who delivers consistent performances on the field before he gets to his contract season. The dudes who show up big in their contract season basically carry more risk as it pertains to the big contract.
Doesn't mean I hate Avila or any of that BS. It means this is a business and the less missteps you make paying dudes who may not live up to their contract the better off we all are.
Also if you look at contracts the Rams aren't gonna pay 5 OL. Hard decisions start after you get a couple guys locked up usually. Rams have four OL who are pending FA after this season. Jackson has an out after this season, but since his only issue has been his behavior and it looks like he's not being suspended (knock on wood), I figure they keep him through 2027. So one OL is already paid. From there they may only pay Dotson or Avila, which of the two I'd prefer Dotson who has been a much more consistent performer.
One thing that may increase Avila's odds would be McClendon not performing well. He isn't off to a great start this year but we're only one game in so there's a long way to go.
