Very interesting. He certainly deserves to be the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.
Right now it's TJ Watt at just over 28 mil per year.. Donald is sitting at 22.
Do they extend.. give a raise.. AND open up significant cap space this year?

I would wager it's 2 or 3 years of extensions with bonus money spread out over a few years after the contract is over. As always the disclaimer I'm wrong as much if not more than right and that's just a guess.

I'm not sure how they can open up much space this year, but I'm surely no contract guy. Between his guaranteed roster bonus (5M) and the dead cap prorated bonus (12.5M), he's already hitting the cap for 17.5 mill.
Man what a difference a couple years make. I can remember back when he was holding out there were some who suggested trading him, some called him selfish haha

Who is Joel Corry and why does he think we'll pay Donald 47.5 million per year? That's crazy money.

$20M+ for a DL?!? That’s QB money and some crazy talk. You’ll never win in the NFL paying a DL $20M+. Lol

It’s certainly deserved and I hope it’s cap friendly

The 2023 cap is going to explode with the new media rights deals. There's going to be a lot of above-average and good players getting huge money. Glad that the Rams are planning to pay the money to a player who actually deserves it.

But, as with all these record-setting deals, records set today are broken tomorrow. Prepare for AD to be like the 10th highest paid defensive player in 2023.

I did suggest trading him. Definitely one of my worst ideas

.

Aaron Donald signed a 6 year, $135,000,000 contract with the Los Angeles Rams, including a $40,000,000 signing bonus.

why does everyone forget the signing bonus when they look at any player's salary right now? he's still in a contract where he got paid on average $22.5m per year.

for once i'd like somebody to correct these blatantly false narratives.

AD says he wants to bring everyone back. he has to be part of the solution for that to happen, not part of the problem. i said in the thread titled as such that he has to be happy with the contract he already has to make it happen.

i guess the rams have other ideas to get his cap hit down.

Gonna be hard to pay him, Von, Stafford, etc.... Everyone wants money after a SB win.... Kinda silly if you ask me. Unless you don't care about winning another one, which may very well be the case for some.
