But I'll play along - I'm good if it's the Jets. Third pick in the 2nd round and maybe Third pick in the 3rd? That's early enough to get 2 really good players, with one being a guy we would have taken at 31 anyway.

Realistically, they could move up a lot further than #31 for that haul - some team before the Rams' pick would take that. Supposedly the Seahawks want to trade down, and that is roughly the value of their pick at #21 - and of course far more than the value of their pick at #29.

Good. Really hope they move down, there isn't all that much dropoff in the guys in the first half of round two from that group that is up in our 31st pick range. Only question is whether there's a slider they really want, so if not then drop.

JOHNATHAN ABRAM Mississippi State 2nd SR. 5113 205 4.44 (1.56) 31 3/8 09 5/8 73 5/8 22.51

I could see them taking Abram if they are after a LB type safety. He's a beast around the line of scrimmage, and just one nasty SOB. If they project him to fill Barron's shoes, yeah, that would be something that wouldn't surprise me. He's not big but that dude just damn he plays with an edge.

Realistically, how many guys from this draft class stand to make the team?

Our roster is much more competitive than in years past and we are full of Mcsnead guys.

Trading down sounds nice - but I hope any ammo we come away with us parlayed into day 2 and early day 3 picks. Having a bunch of 6s and 7s who we are going to try to sneak onto the practice squad isn’t worth missing your guy for.

I expect that there are a few guys that - if available at 31 - cause us to hang up the phone and go turn a card in.

I sure hope Les never forgets losing out on Bobby Wagner to get Isaiah Pead and Rok Watkins.

I take your point, 12.

But there is a lot to be said for seriously upgrading our depth, too. Especially if that ‘19 “depth” can become 2-3 starters in ‘20.

The experts are saying that there is great value in rounds 2-4 in this draft. So why not run with it?

I look for maybe just one starter in ‘19 from this draft class, probably OL, DL, or Edge. All others will probably be groomed to become future starters. But that’s a winning formula in today’s NFL under the cap.

I don’t need starters, I just don’t want to be trading back for draft slots where it’s a long shot to make the 53 man. I know some udfas will make it and could go all pro, but still. If we are getting extra picks in rounds 2-4, I’m game to move back.

Might not need many new starters in ‘19, but next year? OMG!

And who knows about Gurley’s effectiveness?

Looks like a ton of starting positions up in the air there to me. Heck, I’ve surely overlooked some 2nd tier contributors, at that.

I have no problem with picking up an extra 3rd. We got a player like John Johnson by picking up an extra 3rd in 2017. I assume there's essentially going to be a similar cluster of players at the bottom of the 1st that there will be at the top of the 2nd, picking up that extra pick couldn't hurt imo.

NFL Draft Value Chart:
R1.31 = 600 pts
R2.45 = 450 pts + R3.79 = 195 pts = 645 pts
So for a trade down this is good value for the Rams. Friday night will be must watch TV for Rams fans.

Gotta be honest, I don't like it.

This isn't a team that needs to accumulate bodies. This is a team that needs a couple of contributors. Greedy Williams sitting there for secondary depth when we have 2 injury prone CB's, one of whom we might not even re-sign. Cody Ford there to help shore up the O line. Erik McCoy could have been a plug and play starter at center. Nasir Adderly would have filled a real need. Hell, Chase Winovich because we need pass rushing linebackers.

Instead, we punt on all of them (and 5 year control if the player pans out) for a 35:65 longshot of getting someone useful in the 3rd, while simultaneously dropping our odds of getting a starter at 31 from approximately 54% to 41%.

And you think Snead is done trading? Come on - we all know better. The Rams now have draft capital to move up down and all around the 2nd and 3rd round. None of their studs remained at 31 so they punted for multiple solid picks versus reaching for one good pick.

Probably waste 2 hours tonight waiting for the Rams to pick , and then they will trade it away. I'm fine with that

I slept on the recliner with TV on. I woke up right when Seattle picked. I wish I would have made it to bed before crashing.

They are in position to get two good players who fit their system, rather than one. I suspect all the players they really, rully wanted had been taken, but through the 80s it's not unreasonable to find good athletes who know how to play and fit the style they are looking for. And they have the capital to move up and get an even better player in the third or early 2nd if somebody falls. It's basically what I (and many others) expected. The Rams have enough needs that multiple good picks is better than using the first on a slightly better player. Now, if a great player had fallen, that would be different. But players like Greedy had enough flaws I suspect that the Rams figured they could get a player to fit their system as good tomorrow, with another nice pick too.

Thanks to huge contracts, and a whole bunch of free agents this past year and next year - yes it is. For a lot of the picks that the Rams have, if they're lucky players will be ready to start in 2020. They lost basically all their depth on the OL this offseason (with two starters being free agents after this season), both CBs are free agents next year, they signed an aging safety who may not have that long, their primary edge rusher is on a one year contract, their most consistent TE is a free agent, their star RB has an arthritic knee, their backup QB is a free agent in a year, and low drafted QBs take a year or two to develop and most good backup QBs are as expensive as mid range starters at other positions, there are questions about inside linebacker - their best guy is a free agent next year and they have questions at the other one, etc etc. So yeah, they need to keep the pipeline flowing. If a guy they figured to be a star had dropped to them, that would be one thing. They have a good chance to get a guy they valued about as much for their system as who was left with their first pick tomorrow, and a whole bunch of other talent later in the evening. And I expect them to trade down with one of their comp picks, to pick up more developmental guys.
