And, i also might add, Stafford playing 1 or 2 years with us, then going to play for another team, while the Rams insert Simpson, is also on the table, as you alluded to in offseason of '25.

That would make me very sad. But if there is one absolute truth with the Rams under McVay, the quickest fucking ticket out of town is to cost more than you are worth.

Now some will say "an MVP QB is worth anything" but I don't think that is true. I think there is a price point in the Rams heads with every position, even QB. So yes and I fear you may be right. But I prefer Stafford hangs 'em up and maybe even joins the staff. Seeing him somewhere else will piss me off.

I just don’t see that happening. He’s a family man too and I really don’t see him uprooting his little girls in order to move to a new city and play for another team at this point in his life. Players like Rodger’s and Brady have completely different situations and don’t seem near as family centered.

You DO know he came within an outrageous Contract offer from Las Vegas, which probably only required a 3rd year being added from moving possibly, don't you?

I think the most likely outcome is we win the Super Bowl this year and Stafford sails into the sunset.

But the quickest way out of LA is to have a higher estimation of your value than the Rams. So the Rams taking Simpson at 13 seems at least in part to be a clear move by the Rams to let Stafford know they're not going to be held over the barrel by anyone. Not even the MVP and top performing QB in the league.

Now that it's Monday, talking heads are now leaning more towards the Rams were smart taking Simpson. Reddit comments were just brutal draft night about the Rams making the most horrible draft pick in NFL history. I thought there might be blood in the streets. What a difference a weekend makes.

Now that it's Monday, talking heads are now leaning more towards the Rams were smart taking Simpson. Reddit comments were just brutal draft night about the Rams making the most horrible draft pick in NFL history. I thought there might be blood in the streets. What a difference a weekend makes.

I dunno it still seems pretty split to me. I definitely think the notion that McVay “hates the pick” has gone away. But being so close to the Super Bowl in back to back seasons and then spending the 13th pick on someone who likely won’t see the field until 2028 is a decision that deserves scrutiny IMO. I think part of the reason it hasn’t been universally panned is because McVay and Snead have a lot of credibility.

100 percent agree it deserves scrutiny though I think I want to see what and if we add at pass catcher prior to camp here through a cut or trade from elsewhere before developing my thoughts further on this offseason (which I think needs to be taken holistically).

Here's another thought. Turner, Young, Puka and Avila are all in the last year of their rookie contracts. Puka's a no brainer. You cannot lose him and expect to be as good. The other 3 are also valuable pieces. Especially on defense. We have one of the better D-lines in the league. You don't wanna lose that level of play.

In a year or two you have Ty Simpson as your quarterback. On a rookie contract. You can afford to pay those guys now. Could that have played into the decision process?

Right but this is also why I’m somewhat skeptical of the “we want Matthew to play for as long as he wants” talk from Snead. If Stafford is still playing like one of the best 4-5 QBs in football in 2026 and 2027 and wants to keep playing past that….some very tough financial decisions are going to have to be made. I think Snead is praying that Stafford makes it easy for him and retires after the ‘27 season.

Could totally be. I figure that's the ballpark estimate anyway. Like I said if Rams wanted to insert Ty and Stafford still wanted to play elsewhere, that's fine too. Of course we also might want Stafford to play for US in 3 years.

This is all obviously "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" stuff.

However, medicals are medicals and it was less than one year since Stafford's bulging disk was a concern.

This was my thought process all throughout pre-draft process when I was posting McShay and Orlovsky and Daniel touting Simpson. Admittedly, was never quite brave enough to say it.

And thats EXACTLY what that EXTRA 1st Rounder in '26 was for.

Snead also said they were close on the contract, but nothing has been announced yet. So I'm always leery of what they say and try to go off of their moves instead.

As recent moves go... Taking Simpson speaks to the Rams adding bartering power to their side. Stafford had them over the barrel prior to that selection.

So I am going to feel a lot better about things once Stafford is done and we know both sides are happy.

FWIW Albert Breer said on a podcast today that the only player we were willing to trade up for was Love. He said the Rams “viewed him as really the only difference maker in the first round”.

If that’s really how they felt, the Simpson pick makes more a lot more sense.

I said in my comment on the good bad ugly Rams fans comments about Simpson and a lot of it was to the twitter, bluesky and reddit communities but we expect very little from them to begin with.
