Thing is I believe at least 6 QBs will be as good as Simpson next year. I could be wrong but at least they likely will not have elbow bursitis or lower back issues.
No one knows how anyone will turn out. These guys haven't played a down in the NFL yet. Of those 6 quarterback chances are at least a couple won't be what the team hoped for. Or even not be the college guy they were supposed to be.

I remember how good the quarterback class was supposed to be before the start of last season. Then guys like Allar, Sellers and Nussmeir did not have the type of season expected of them. Moore decided to stay another year at Oregon. Sellers wisely stayed another year too. He'll have a chance to improve his draft stock.

Bottom line, some don't think Simpson is the guy. Rams are taking a chance that he is. He will be in a better position than Mendoza. He won't have the kind of pressure other first rounders face. And he'll have the benefit of a Hall of Fame quarterback to learn from. And arguably the best offensive mind in McVay. I doubt Stafford will be resistant to being a mentor the way Favre was to Rogers.

That, and the unproven '27 Draft Class.
Yeah that's part of the hope and prayers I was referring to.

We hope that Burrow becomes available in 2 years.

We hope and pray that we'll be the lucky one to trade for him if he does...

We hope the 2027 draft has 6 1st round QBs available, even though we know the 2026 draft was projected to have about that many at this time last year.

We hope that if the 27 class does have 6 legit 1st round QBs, they won't all be gone by pick 12 like typically happens in QB heavy drafts.

We hope that we'll be able to trade up 20 picks to get one of these QBs...

And of course we hope that we can trade up with it only costing a 2nd...because we can't imagine having to pay three 1sts.

Or, we hope that one of these amazing, franchise altering QBs magically falls to 20 for a palatable trade up...

On and on...those aren't solid plans.

This is my first time posting about Ty Simpson. This is a good video I watched on some game tape he did at Alabama.

Note: At the 3 minute Mark is where I was sold on this guy. I didn't think we would draft him at 13 nor draft him at all. I'm excited for what he can do in the future

Edit: I switched the video the first was the wrong video

I prefer a bigger build QB. I also like several guys for next year. But I’m not the coach (hahaha obviously).

But McVay is different. He requires a very specific, precise, processor at the QB position. You can have Josh Allen 2.0 but it won’t work. Just like he got fed up with Goff. If Simpson has that brain a processing ability that is simpatico with McVay - then you get that guy. Doesn’t matter if he’s not 6’4 230.

So being able to get that guy with the right brain and QB processor that McVay requires at 13 without trading assets - you absolutely do it.

Bursitis seems pretty minor to me. Not sure about the lower back issue. But, either way, I can't help but to believe that this team with it's medical staff would OK this kid if there were any chronic issues.

I'd rather the team pick up one on day three in the draft. But, again, team needs don't influence player availability.

I, too, would have love to have seen more than 15 starts. But of the QBs in the past who have failed in the league with that many or fewer starts, not one looked as good as Simpson did for a stretch this year, was on a NFL good team with a coach like McVay and got to sit and learn for a season. At least I can't think of one.

Just read that he had 3 different offensive coordinators in 4 years at Alabama.
His targets has 30 drops (second most among all power 4 QBs)

Concern
He fumbled 7 times last year. I remember a couple running around and not getting down, but he's got to work on that of it's Goff again.
