I have never said I completely trust Snead and McVay when it comes to the draft because I hated the Tutu and Bennett picks

I have a pretty good track record in hating picks. I also hated the Hopkins pick as well.

I hope I am wrong but I doubt it when he can’t even last his only season in college football with 3 count em 3 injuries
Yep. Agreed. Plus everyone acting like McVay loved this pick. If you read body language he clearly didn’t. This was Sneed trying to be the smartest kid in the room.

Hopefully Simpson turns into the next Tom Brady in regards to success. I will root for him.

Sheeple. Find one quote that has McVay saying something positive about him.
Plenty. See his interview the next day on NFL Network or after night 2. See his interview following the draft on day 3. It was reported by multiple sources that he fell in love with his tape.

Think of it this way. Who is the most important person in the Rams organization? Who would the owner move heaven and earth to keep happy so he stays here?

You think that is Snead or McVay, the guy who completely turned around the organization since he got here?

I said it the night it happened, McVay was going overboard trying not to offend Stafford by downplaying the pick. It was obvious. He even made a point to state it's Stafford's team.

There is no way he has no say on that first rd pick.

Didn't see this mentioned, but just watching an NFL Live re-run this morning (yeah I have no life). They were talking about Simpson, Shefter reported that the Rams didn't receive a single call about pick 13 in regards to trading back.

So that's why they stuck and picked Simpson at 13. They likley would have liked to move back a few picks and then take him.
I’m speculating but my guess is McVay was disappointed there were no trade down offers. Which could have given the Rams Simpson plus a sub-50 R2 pick for another weapon. I know I was.

In all my years of being an NFL draftnik there have been very few QBs that looked like legit NFL QBs while in college the way Simpson did for a good stretch last year. He looked like the perfect McVay/Shanahan WCO QB.

And this was behind a questionable OLine, the 125th ranked rushing attack, and WRs dropping passes left and right.

NFL Draft 101. When you get a chance to grab a potential franchise QB you take him because immediate need does not influence player availability and that opportunity doesn't come around very often.

I'm loving the Simpson pick more everyday. I think we got a good one. Can't wait to see him play in pre season if McVay even lets him play. If he's not dressing and Bennet is playing in pre season that will say everything.

Okay @Memphis Ram I am drinking the Kool-Aid.

Other than all the videos linked since the pick of him talking about Simpson? Man stop being so negative and watch things linked. Not sure you'll watch it or actually listen to what our coach says in it but here you go this is like the 6th time it's been linked here.

There were some concerns that AZ was interested in Simpson. If the Rams traded back into the 20's its possible AZ woulda traded up and jumped them on the pick.

Snead/McVay knew waiting till next year probably would not net them one of the better quarterbacks. They're likely to be picking late in the round. By then all the good ones will be gone. They may not have enough draft capital to move into the top 5. And what if Stafford retires after the season? Going into 2027 with what should be a contender relying on a rookie QB? Risky.

The way I see it, if their evaluation of Simpson tells them he's got the chops to be a good one, who am I to question that? I definitely don't know better than their people who does it for a living. In this instant gratification society we live in, what irks a lot of people is that we won't know if he's that guy we covet or not for a few more years.

If you think Sean's body language looked bad you should have seen Farve's presser after Green Bay drafted Rodgers and that turned pretty good for the Packers.

Thing is I believe at least 6 QBs will be as good as Simpson next year. I could be wrong but at least they likely will not have elbow bursitis or lower back issues.

Maybe there will be 6. What range do you expect them to be drafted?

There are probably at least 5 teams that want QBs next year. My guess is the franchise caliber QBs will be gone around pick 12.

If we're in the 32nd range as expected, it will be pretty difficult, if not impossible, to get into that range to draft one of these QBs.

Well, we coulda waited till Stafford retires and sign someone like Minshew, Brissett or a 40 year old Kirk Cousins. And be in quarterback purgatory for a few years with a team that is once again a quarterback away from a championship. Who knows, maybe Daniel Jones, Aaron Rogers or Russell Wilson will be available?
