I didn't realise the Rams had a spring chicken starting at QB.

.
They don't but this kid will not play next season under any circumstance. He is nowhere near being a starting NFL QB so this pick does not help them next season. If Matt goes down I don't know what the Rams will do.
I guarantee you McVay didn't want this pick.

1) if Matthew goes down, it doesn’t matter who is the back up. This team is cooked.

2) you have absolutely no way to prove you are right. All confirmations only point to you being wrong.

True...but Simpson does have a great supporting cast and a running game that he lacked at Alabama. And the defense - particularly the secondary - should be good enough to win a lot of games, even if Stafford goes down for any length of time.

I don’t disagree. I’m actually a fan of the pick and think when his time comes (I.e when Stafford retires) he will be a great fit in the system. But a rookie isn’t winning the Super Bowl. This is a Super Bowl team. Anything short of a Lombardi is…well…underachieving

Agree, season is fucked if we lose Stafford. Stafford is a HOF QB and MVP...... those are rare QBs to have.

I've grown to like the pick as well and understand why it was made.

And we'll see. Roethlisberger was close to being a non-factor when he won his first. I think Simpson could possibly fill in a few games and do well, and I love the team around the QB.

Now pretty please with sugar and whipped cream on top draft Ahmad Hardy with our first in 2027! :D (Note, no blue font; I think Hardy is a special running back, and it would be nice to reunite him with Trost.)

which nfl teams season is not fucked if their starting QB goes down again?

If the worst happens, I’d rather we are getting our future QB some experience than trotting out Jimmy G hoping to eke out a probably otherwise meaningless win.

I guarantee you're 100% wrong on McVay.

And.. he will play. He'll start game 17 because the Rams will have locked up the division and number one seed.

Simpson

Sat on the bench for 3 years at Alabama

Hopefully he'll be sitting on the bech for the next 2 or 3 years as well

I'm going to push back on that.
There are rookies, like Stroud or Dart (and many more) for example, who get drafted to start right away or play in their first year who do just fine.

And the Rams are a championship quality team.

All would not be lost necessarily.
