Yes, in three years we all may be rejoicing in the Simpson pick if he plays well. But I fear we may all be heartbroken in late January/mid February because we were a Bain or Lemon or Sadiq away from a SB. It's been a few hours now and I still can't believe it. Your choice of so many good players to play RIGHT NOW and you pass. And this rationalization about "well, our pick at 29 got us McDuffie" - that's BS. We had the 13th pick too! In addition to McDuffie!! You'll never get a shot like this again to immediately improve a SB-worthy team. Like it or not, this single selection may very well define Snead & McVay's legacy. And wow, McVay looked like someone shot his dog at the presser.
It's just hard for me to believe that a rookie in Bain, Lemon, Sadiq or whomever is going to the be difference in whether or not this team gets to a Super Bowl. That's even if they pan out which isn't guaranteed.

BTW, I really believe that Bain would be better suited as a 4-3 DE.

Bears made the playoffs didnt they? I must be an idiot to think a 27th ranked defense made the playoffs, with a WORSE Offense!

Great point.
And last year‘s rookie class had a very light impact. But and this is important too, all those guys are going to be a year older and have a full year of the program. We will see much more in the way of contributions from that group next season.

Well lemon was available all the way to 20 so we “could have gotten him later” too

The Rams had to be thinking that the Jets at 16 may take him. If he is the guy - you don’t risk losing the guy.
Arizona loved Simpson, too. I wanted the Rams to trade back and get him, but if you believe in him as a franchise QB, taking him at 13 makes sense. If they moved down, maybe the Jets take him, but more likely Arizona could jump them by moving up from 34.

I stated it earlier, but they really didn't get that much out of the rookie class the year they won the Super Bowl.

Lmaoooooooo.

Darnold 14 INTs, Caleb 7.

Darnold lost fumbles 3, Caleb 0.

Do better.
Do better, look at the Stats. Most of those turnovers came from us! Not much would have changed! Sure we would have won an extra game prob! They would have lost maybe 2 or 3 more and went to wild card. Thier offense with the turnovers beat the dogshit out of everyone except us!

One thing they do best is run the fucking clock!

Cowgirls missed the playoff by 3 games. Seattle offense would have got them there.

Renner gave us

Grade: A

Simpson showed high-end ability last season before injuries started piling up. He understands how to attack tight windows and play with the anticipation necessary to translate to the NFL. I also think he gets underrated physically as he's got very light feet in the pocket and an NFL-caliber arm. The Rams don't plan on picking this high until Matthew Stafford retires, and now they have their transition plan.

Also another example Steelers made the playoffs with 26th ranked defense as well with an extremely less offense than Seattle!

hell Burrow does it almost every year with bottom 5 defense except last year due to injury!

Watching the press conference, McVay does not look like the usual upbeat guy we see after a draft. Hands in his pockets, letting Snead do most of the talking, giving short responses to some of the questions - I really think Snead pushed this one. We'll see how it shakes out but there were so many other players we could have taken if we were all in this season. I get how important a QB is in this league but there's nothing about Simpson that would put him over some of the veterans we could have potentially picked up.

Ha, he also said if the falcons didn't trade with them last season they were taking Ferguson in the 1st. Imagine this board if that happened.

We traded back last year for a QB this year. That was the plan. I said McVay would love this kid. He does! Snead does too! Our coaching staff, surrounding the QBs, is one of the best in the NFL.

Perhaps everyone who is angry should calm down because they just pulled of a master stroke

What did it cost? Basically nothing because Ferguson is a stud and Atlanta gifted us this opportunity

Simpson and the Rams are set up for long term success. The Super Bowl window is open for years. Go Rams! Now let’s go win another one

Simpson, through tears of emotion says “let’s make history coach”. And McVay says “…..yeah…”. He might as well have said “yeah whatever bro”. McVay is not bought in AT ALL
in the GDT, you frequently wave the white flag and say the Rams are doomed and dump on our team. But this take is beyond ridiculous.

So after watching thousands of hours of film and investing a first round pick and millions of dollars and several years of his coaching future... and you think McVay's not "bought in"?

McVay was subdued at the press conference because he wanted to be respectful about drafting Stafford's replacement. But to conclude that McVay isn't "bought in" with Simpson is just... whatever. A mind bogglingly horrible take.

I know Snead wanted him there because he’s friends with the family, has been targeting him for months, and he gave some absurd quote tonight that he was worried Simpson would go even higher. LOL.

There’s no way in hell McVay wanted to use 13 on him. Zero shot.
You are deluded, you know that right? :-)
