Let’s use Drake Maye as an example. He started early in his rookie season and showed a lot of fight and some real talent. I got to see him live against the Rams and was impressed by him especially as a rookie. His second season, he started every game and had very good stats. What really impressed was his ability to run and his patience in finding targets. However, even though he made it to the Super Bowl, it was clear he was not enough to carry a team. I think he’ll continue to improve and maybe by year 4 or 5 carry his offense.
My point is even a very good QB given early opportunity is likely to take a while to get to a point where they can carry a team all the way through the playoffs. My hope is that’s the path that Simpson is on.
In his defense, that looked like a high school OL out there.

You have to give a little feedback to Ty Simpson at least.Good or Bad.

Do like the pick at ALL ?

I like Matt Caldwell & his upside as well.I know my opinion on Ty Simpson & it’s the way The Rams are approaching this in the Right Way.

2026 is about getting Stetson ready & prepared for the 2026 season.

Here is an article for ALL YOU
Doubters or HATERS!! Stetson

To think Sean Mcvay doesn’t know IMO is BS,only because there is NO DOUBT Stetson has to play 1 game & at least 1 series. After that then I can get behind Mcvay of not KNOWING!!
I don’t KNOW though about Ty Simpson & Caldwell ? What that is going to look like is another story ?

—What I know is from what I saw & what Sean Mcvay has confirmed a few times is DAVE RAGONE’s project is to get Stetson Bennet ready to be The MAN if anything happens to Stafford. You see him right there coaching him up.Mcvay is like that.He gets his coaches to try to build a player up.
I can go down a list if times a position coach really is dialed in to help a certain player.Does it always work ?? I’d say NO,but what do I know ?
Funny little triva about Kurt Warner movie.Number 32 who played Marshall Faulk was OJ Simpson. We all know there is that imagination there though.Seeing Kurt Warners career as a Ram isn’t what was always seemed ? Don’t know if anyone was blessed enough to have been at one of there training camps early on in St. Louis. IMO Trent Greene really helped Warner though just to have seen what it looks like.
We can also just add to his career once he became a Veteran QB.
Marc Bulger,Eli Manning. It was Denny Green who was the HC in Arizona I believe?? He was going to start Matt Leinhart over Kurt.I remember a sideline interview & it was like this guy can’t even hold my jock strap.I’m the better QB & will prove it.The rest is History.
-Point being there is NO RUSH with Ty Simpson being The Rams future QB.

Ty Simpson's superpower is to go from 1 to 2 to 3 (and even get to 4 and 5) and it was on display today. (He may have gone a bit fast but hard to tell without all-22).

Honestly I think that's a sizable hurdle, show us that you can do what you were drafted for. Eventually he'll have to show it against real defenses and real defenders but it's a good start.

Honestly, he should stay QB3 as of now behind Bennett/Garoppolo. Let this kid keep marinating and baking in it. Think he'll be good, but dont want to expose him too early. WE have the luxury of time here, Staff could realistically play 3 years if not definitely 2.

Depends what they think the delta is.
You don’t roll into a season with a 38 year old QB and SB hopes without a real backup.
We're overwhelming SB favorites because of the defensive acquisitions made in the offseason but wouldn't be near that without #9 back there. There seems to be an excessive amount of concern about the #2 QB job. I really don't care who it is because if #9 misses considerable time, we're fucked. JMHO. But I will say this. If #9 missed considerable time, I'd want the kid in there because Stetson (or JG) ain't gonna lead us to the Super Bowl. Let's face it, if JG needs to play more than a game or two, we'd probably see Simpson in there anyway because he's 35 and he's never been able to stay healthy (maybe twice). And I don't know that we can afford JG if AD comes back, which it looks like he will. Simpson would get much needed, valuable experience with real ammo that could only accelerate his development. Plus, if our defense is good enough to get there with Bennett, they're good enough to get there with Simpson. But I don't know all that much (even if my family thinks I do). :laugh4:

Like I said before... If Bennett doesn't outperform this kid the Rams are going to be looking at this room on final cuts and thinking to themselves "well Bennett would almost surely clear waivers and we can add him to the PS and save a roster spot..."

It appears the reports that Ty may actually beat out Bennett for #2 were confirmed today.

And if it's close what's the point in going with Bennett. I appreciate the dude but if he can't separate from a rook QB and then you consider that the rook will improve as the season goes and you get an additional roster spot...
