I'm guilty but he's off to a good start for sure. There's still time for me to be right about the guy but I've always said I hope he proves me wrong and I'm rooting for him to. I take zero shame in my original stance about the guy as I believe on owning up to my opinions. No one will truly know what he'll be until further down the road, but again, he's trending in the right direction which is great.

I know it's just one preseason game, but...

I honestly think we Rams fans are gonna be blessed for the next decade.

For many of us, the mantra is "trust McVay."

They did many thousands upon thousands of hours of research on Simpson. They legit thought he would be the guy to lead us to Super Bowls.

That preseason game showed that he has all the tools to be a plus starter in this league.

In my mind, the only remaining question is how Simpson can perform in crunch time in big games. But to me, I'm optimistic about everything else.

Check marks to all the following: arm strength. Processing speed. Accuracy. Mobility. Passion for the game. Leadership. Temperament. Pocket presence. Progression ability. Decision making. Height and size. Obsession with X's and O's.

Let's see where we are in 10 years. But I genuinely think that McVay and Simpson are gonna win multiple Super Bowls together.

Yes I'm a homer and yes it's one damn preseason game. But McVay knows what the fuck he's doing. And McVay thinks Simpson is the guy to take us to the promised land.

I think he's off to a great start and nothing wrong with how you feel so not knocking you for feeling how you do, but its one preseason game. I wanna see how he continues to stack days and hopefully play some against other teams starters at some point in the upcoming scrimmages or preseason games. I'm also keeping in mind that teams are playing extremely vanilla schemes right now. How does he do when teams gameplan to confuse him? Simpson will certainly eventually take his lumps but hopefully he keeps on trucking and continues to use Stafford as a great sounding board to further improve.

I doubted the pick before and right after the draft but looked at his body of work and determined that he might be as good as people say he might be.

However, I am still worried about the lower back issue popping up from the punishment football players receive. I hope it was a minor lower back muscle issue that treatment cured.

Well, I will say this for the lad, "he looked better than Bennett".
Can't really compare the two in this game.

Bennett had only two series and threw two poor passes. He also threw a couple of really good passes.

Simpson had a couple of poor passes on a couple of series. One was absolutely horrible that he should never have thrown but I call that a rookie issue.

Disagree. Bennett had mere practice throws to complete and he was late/inaccurate. Even on his completion to X the pass was behind where the play requires him hit in stride. 4th year in system and he still looked like a rookie. Simpson was far from perfect but gets the benefit of the doubt as he gets the learning curve

Still two series. I have seen many QBs start out slow in a game and once into the game - they get going.

And he still drove them down for a FG on the second series. You guys are holding Bennett to too high of a standard for just two series.

Sheesh.

Ty had a really good game but it wasn't until the 4th qtr that I really started to get impressed with Ty.

The majority of his first few series, he was doing rolls outs and short swing passes. However, he was accurate as hell on those plays so Kudos for that.

Still two series.
I wonder if we're gonna see Bennett for a little longer against the Saints on Saturday? I would hope so. I'd like to see Simpson start against what may be some Saints D starters and give Bennett the second half against the scrubs. If he doesn't look better I don't know what the Rams will do.

If Ty Simpson continues to impress, I would place Stetson Bennett on the practice squad. I do not believe any team would claim him, and it would allow the Rams to keep another one of their promising rookies... either a RB or TE or Edge orWR. If Stafford gets hurt... Simpson will only have to finish that 1 game before they activate Bennett for the next game And Simpson clearly outplayed Bennett in that preseason game. Granted Bennett only had a handful of snaps but they were easy plays like rollouts and/or play action but Bennett didn't even look good on those. And remember... I said IF Simpson continues to impress. It just doesn't make sense to lose one of the other promising players like Mark Redman or Dean Conners or Wesley Bailey for Stetson Bennett. I trust McVay but remember Willie Lampkin!

How the next few weeks go will be interesting. Guys could play themselves into certain spots on the team. Happens every year.

- Can Ty change the Rams plans and take QB 2?
- Can Connor keep showing out in preseason (including on ST) and earn one of the likely 4 spots at RB on the active roster
- Could Bailey show enough to push an OLB off the roster?
- I see no scenario where Redmond earns a spot but can he make it to the PS

I also think that quite a few people are biased against Bennett and look at only the bad things he does and none of the good things.

Always willing to read a list of the good things of any Rams player.
