I think this is more of a McVay philosophy and one that only works when you are scoring points on Offense. McVays failure to adjust to this is a bit of a head scratcher. Reason why I'm calling out McVay and not Morris is because at the end of the day it's McVays team and the top dawg is always going to have answer that bell.

If it is a McVay thing, that is disappointing. Part of the issue on offense is not having the ball enough to get into a rhythm. Play aggressive. You'll give up something now and again, but add more than you subtract.

In my opinion.

Rams defense is 5th is yards allowed per game and 6th in points allowed if you don’t count points scored by other teams defenses/special teams. So unless the underlying metrics of the defense are shit I’d say he’s doing an ok job.

The offense on the other hand is dead last/bottom 5 in a lot of categories.

His defense pisses me off sometimes too but when I see numbers like I posted it makes me think maybe I’m overreacting idk.

What is his points allowed on teams with winning records?

Well let’s see:

Buffalo: 31
Niners: 17
Dallas: 16
Niners: 31

So a little under 24 pts a game.

They don’t have a winning record but the Falcons(4-4) we allowed 17 pts on defense.

Lots of bad field position due to turnovers in those games too. Defense played well enough to win two of those 4 games.

Oh good another vent thread another Morris bitchfest just what we need.
While I agree it might be timff Ed to be a little more aggressive on defense. If for no other reason than to increase turnovers and save some clock. But the Rams problem is 86.55% Offense, 8.35% special teams and the rest% defense.

Just curious, do you have a link that can show Rams D as 6th in points allowed (without points given up by offense and special teams)? I searched a bit but couldn't find that. All the stats I see are TOTAL points allowed, regardless of HOW the points were scored.

So is the Rams' D 17th in points allowed, or "actually" 6th in points allowed? To me, that's key to the discussion.

I don't think our defense has been the problem guys. This is clearly a team with offensive deficiencies.

I don't think the team being 3-4 has anything to do with the Rams defense not looking as good as ever.

When you lose your offensive line, you lose your ability to control the clock and sustain long drives and keep the other teams offense on the bench.

Our team has been playing fantastic defense and good special teams.

The only problem this team has is a weak offensive line which gives us a weak pass game and a weak run game that is not even supplemented with any real brute backs.

Wasn't that two or three years ago that rookie running backs were ripping off 150 yard games on the Rams?

15-20 yard runs were common?

It's not the D that is the problem with this team.

The D''s biggest failure is lack of big plays by them. No defensive scores, few turnovers in general, lack of sacks and plays behind the line of scrimmage.

The reason for that is lack of dynamic players. Only Donald & Ramsey are special talents. The rest are hard worker types that get by on hustle and maybe smarts.

Of course this is due to not having top 40- 50 picks for yrs and missing on too many 50 -100 picks, where you can still occasionally find a good raw talent. Hard to overcome that.
