I don't think Shula needs to be fired but we added way too much talent to be happy with the results we've gotten so far.
I think defense, especially ours is like a o-line. They just need more time together, before they are #1.

Right now they are "3rd in fewest yards, 12th in fewest points allowed ... and that includes the 6 points on pick 6, so really a top-10 scoring defense "

Even if Garrett never played this is a top 5 defense that is only gonna get better.
I for the most part have loved what I'm seeing. I see an super aggressive defense
that needs to be getting more sacks from our Dline ,which in a 3/4 I still count the OLB's
(EDITED: incorrect stats) our Dlineman. 3 Games and 2 sacks.1 and 1 sack from a ILB.
We get a lot of pressure, but do not get home. We definitely need Garrett

How bout the Rams stop settling for fucking FG's....

I consider it something to look at too. Something to wring my hands over? No. Something to point as some dangerous trend? No. I look for commonalities. What did those 3 losses......huge leads blown.......have in common? Good opponent? Check. Bizarre plays? Check.
You have to know though that the Rams blew 16 pt or more leads three times in slightly more than a year. They had done the same only THREE TIMES in the last 25 YEARS!! So yes, it's a trend, and a big problem.

The seagull loss was 100% Mcvay. The d got what should have been the game winning interception. The crowd was silent.

Then Mcvay called the 3 lamest plays in nfl history. With every down you could see the players getting more intense and hear the crowd cheer louder and louder. Then the punt return td and the crowd was in a frenzy. In one minute Mcvay had completely changed the complexion of the game.

I had this game marked as a loss. I thought that Denver was a really talented team, and that the home field would be too much to overcome. But....there were some positives from last night.

The first and most obvious is.....without Puka and Myles - arguably the best offensive weapon and best defensive players in the NFL - we are still significantly better than a team who is almost completely healthy, at home and made the AFCCG last year winning 14 games. They also beat a Jaguars team last week who just beat the brakes off the Patriots.

It wasn't just the yardage, though I think that does tell a large portion of the story here for how much we dominated them - it was the refs, the plays we could have made (dropped INTs by Watson and Lake), our run defense - people will say whatever they will say and they'll have fun with this. But last night was the second game in a row where we showed we are more talented than everyone else.

Other good signs:

Mevis was perfect. Thank god after his miss last week....special teams is a disaster outside of him, but at least we have him

And the most important thing for me.....how we responded to the adversity. When Stafford threw the pick 6, I thought the game was over. Not only did the offense respond, but special teams kept the Broncos from getting past the 35 yard line on the ensuing kick return (have to squint hard to find positives for ST aside from Mevis), and then the defense made a game sealing pick that was stolen the refs. AND then the defense responded by stopping them AGAIN. Only to be aided by the refs again. We got them to 3rd down even after that before the culmination of everything got them to the 1cm line and any QB at that point can do what Nix did.

Davante, again. The WRs, overcoming the injuries on offense.....Kyren. Holy shit.

Concerns:

Evans and our coverage units. Kick return coverage kept them before the 35 so that was okay.....I'm wondering if it can be turned around by getting a new punter

Stafford was a little off, missing some open WRs again. But that's a tough place to play, they have a good defense and I imagine all that combines to mess with him. Not overly concerned here.

This was my prediction after the Niners debacle. 2 for 2 so far:

Giants - W
@Broncos - L
@Eagles - L
Bills - W
Cardinals - W
@Raiders - W
Chargers - W
@Commodes - W
@Cardinals - W
Packers - W
Chiefs - W
@Niners - W
Cowboys - W
@Seahawks - L
@Bucs - W
Seahawks - W

1-3 start, panic everywhere, finish 13-4

But I now see a win next week if Puka is back. I think our DL will get after the Eagles offense and we are due to beat them, just like Denver was due to beat us.
9-7 is probably enough for a play off spot so looking at the schedule there is no reason at all to panic. That said, our early schedule hasn’t exactly been easy and the ball hasn’t bounced our way. As McVay says, we will come together and play better as the season progresses. With the returning injuries Nov, Dec, Jan and hopefully Feb will be fun, irrespective of where we finish in the best division in football

Or it's simply an anomaly. I'll go with that, especially considering the 3 teams who came back were quality teams. Others can go with "oh my god it's a terrible trend and a huge problem"!!!!!

As far as "they had done the same only 3 times in the last 25 years" how many 16 point leads did they have over that span? My bet is from 2005-2016, not very many if at all, so that's leaning on the lamp post just a bit, eh?

So is that going to be this teams muse? Coming back from behind?
Only the offense knows for sure. ****************
The defense is doing their fucking job, even though Shula has had some arrows aimed his way. Philly scored 17 points today when they took over at the Rams 28, 17 and 35 on an interception, punt return and interception scoring a FG, TD and TD.
Against Denver the D allowed 16 points but they made the play to stop any further damage at the 8 yard line, except the refs didn't see it that way.
So the last 2 games 31 of the opponent 50 points against the D were given to them. Give the D shit about 19 points in 2 games?
The offense has turned the ball over 7 times the first 4 games. That has got to fucking stop.
The special teams have sucked through the first 4 games. That has got to fucking stop.
We need to put some head hunters on special teams.
And we need to make better decisions on offense.

Frantik Says Relax

Yep.

I am fairly certain without looking that we are the first team ever to play their first four games in four different time zones.

And I am going to look at the positives for special teams - you can argue that only our punt operation needs fixed. Mevis missed another FG, but it was rainy and the entire team was playing like shit. I think that's probably due to the four different time zones.

Mevis will be fine. Our kick coverage appears to be in good shape. We need to get better gunners, coach Bachman on always catching the punt and replace Evans and then we will be set.

Stafford has been off and yet we're still 2-2. In terms of personnel, we played teams with good to great defenses.

And yet through four weeks we are going to be close to the top of the NFL in yards and yards allowed.

McVay needs to get a call with the league office and really get into these bullshit penalties - but now is when the fun begins.

Stafford is just terrible in the rain.

His one interception in the Giants game was a long pass. Those interceptions happen from time to time.

The interceptions are an issue (6 through 4 games; 8 the entire 2025 season) but that's going to happen in any weather. He takes risks, loves his arm and forces the ball sometimes. Most times the Rams are rewarded, but it's the pick 6's or ints in our end that cause problems. But like that ex-Cardinal coach used to say, "no risk-it, no biscuit". We need the D and TE room to get healthy and we'll be fine.

I wouldn't count the one in Denver at the end. Sometimes stats are misleading....

Im not worried about Bills as Much as Everyone else. If our D can lock them down, we winning. Offense need to Shred thier Bullshit ass Defense up, and Put 40 on them.They are Ranked 30th in Defense.

Superbowl year Stafford Threw 17 Ints, and 8 in last 4 Games of the Season! His Bad Throw % is Actually Down Compared to Normal, He will shake it off!

Most Of Stafford INTs came in a 5 Game Span at the End of last year.

If the Proper Call had Happened, That Last int, is Gone because we win.
