No no no, not the market, don't let the market decide!!
If "the market" decided anything about electric cars they would be a much smaller piece of the market than what they are. Customers get big incentives for buying them. Manufacturers get all sorts of government freebees for making them and then you have the electric vehicle mandates they are trying to shove down our throats.
The tech is not really there. It takes all night to charge one at home and even with a Super Charger its a half our. Who would want to sit around a gas station for half a freaking hour ? And what if we all had to do it ? The electricity for mass EVs simply is not there. Ever heard of brown outs in CA ? When is the last time we built a electric plant ? The stuff we have is crumbling. The cars are super heavy. That means tires wear out much faster and they are harder on our roads. Batteries ? When it comes time to replace them it costs more than the car is worth. And then you have the child/slave labor to get the lithium not to mention the extremely dirty refining process.
Until we have cheap clean electricity and they make new light batteries that can hold more charge they will stay a small piece of the market.
Oh, those lithium batteries make their own oxygen in a fire , not good. EVs suck.
