Meh....I thought they crap the bed 3 of the last 4 weeks...Earlier with Tavon wasn't so cool either...We have an elite punter....excellent kicker....and finally got a few of the penalties in check.
I'm not happy about how the season ended, I'm usually very direct and to the point. Often times I forget that I don't have to win every battle or disagreement or difference of opinion, and that gives me a persona of unapproachable at work.
I'm exactly the type of person that wont be impressed by any accolades for a team that is at home watching the rest of the playoffs.
That said....do you think you might be selling us a bit short here with your casual dismisses of a stellar special teams in the entire NFL?
-I'd give the WHOLE program a pass for Tavon. I'm not sure that lack of execution is even explainable, so we go that rout, but credit the staff for making a huge move.Your negative is a plus in my book, especially since the move was made so decisively and so early in the show,
-I know you considered Pharoah Cooper and made an effort to not include him.....but despite his last game, he was top 3 in every category of importance including yards and average in both KO returning and Punt returning and even had the TD in Jacksonville which I was pleased to see in person. I think you need to acknowledge his impact in so much as the whole league has. A "meh" for Cooper is not justified.
-Our punt return unit wasnt just a great return unit. If they decided they wanted the damn ball, they went and got it. Most blocks by double the next, plus two punt block TD's are a solid reason for Fassel to be proud.
I've been following the team a season or two, and I know in my experience that I'll look back on THIS roster as one of the better special teams we've ever had. And if you dig enough in the last 4 games, you can find stand out special teams performances. Unfortunately, its the LAST game we played that sets a dark cloud over it all.
