I was just thinking about the Rams going to the Pro Bowl this year, all 8 of them, Very Cool!!(y):yess:

But here's a question, our whole Special Teams unit, K- Zuerlein, P- Hekker, LS- McQuaide, and KR/PR Cooper All made it. Has any other Teams entire ST Unit made it to the Pro Bowl before!!? IDK, but can anyone answer this question!!?

Meh....I thought they shit the bed 3 of the last 4 weeks...Earlier with Tavon wasn't so cool either...We have an elite punter....excellent kicker....and finally got a few of the penalties in check.

I'm not happy about how the season ended, I'm usually very direct and to the point. Often times I forget that I don't have to win every battle or disagreement or difference of opinion, and that gives me a persona of unapproachable at work.

I'm exactly the type of person that wont be impressed by any accolades for a team that is at home watching the rest of the playoffs.

That said....do you think you might be selling us a bit short here with your casual dismisses of a stellar special teams in the entire NFL?

-I'd give the WHOLE program a pass for Tavon. I'm not sure that lack of execution is even explainable, so we go that rout, but credit the staff for making a huge move.Your negative is a plus in my book, especially since the move was made so decisively and so early in the show,

-I know you considered Pharoah Cooper and made an effort to not include him.....but despite his last game, he was top 3 in every category of importance including yards and average in both KO returning and Punt returning and even had the TD in Jacksonville which I was pleased to see in person. I think you need to acknowledge his impact in so much as the whole league has. A "meh" for Cooper is not justified.

-Our punt return unit wasnt just a great return unit. If they decided they wanted the damn ball, they went and got it. Most blocks by double the next, plus two punt block TD's are a solid reason for Fassel to be proud.

I've been following the team a season or two, and I know in my experience that I'll look back on THIS roster as one of the better special teams we've ever had. And if you dig enough in the last 4 games, you can find stand out special teams performances. Unfortunately, its the LAST game we played that sets a dark cloud over it all.

Didn’t he block 2 punts this season? One for a touchdown right? I wouldn’t say he is quite slacking.

You are being a bad kid, let up on the condemnation a bit, Champ..you hating bastid!

I am honestly dumbfounded as to what happened to our ST's after Greg Zeureiln's gutsy game in Seattle. It was like the team lost confidence when he was put on IR. Guys got penalties that they mostly were free of before the Hawk game. Pharoh all of sudden looked human, when before you JUST KNEW he would break at least two tackles on most every return, and fumbles were not a concern. It was like a light switch was flicked after Legatron was gone, and the lights went out.

The placing of GZ on IR definitely seemed to swing the team's momentum... I don't know what it was but there was definitely a change in the team. Hope the guy comes back all guns blazing for next season.

I always figured Pharoh as equal to Tavon....maybe a lil better hands...definitely a tougher tackle....dude wants it and won't go down.
Rams camp 2 years ago....I'm watchin the WR's run routes....DB's covering....it's when I first noticed how tough Joyner competed on every rep....impressive....but was still a lil guy so he didn't make plays....but A for effort...anyhoots, the wr's I'm really watching were Quick, Britt, and Austin....and I'm noticing how the ball sounds when guys catch it....Catching a football cleanly should be quiet....muffled....like you have mitts on....Some of the guys had loud, "thwacks" when the ball would hit the palms....Tavon was one....and so was Pharoh.....I commented in here, this site, he's not a natural catcher of the ball....no biggie...but it does matter...esp as a punt returner...It was the main reason I was pissed I didn't get to camp this past year, I wanted to see how Kupp did....what his hands "sounded" like.
Pharoh shouldn't have been in position to lose a game....ST's are usually the reason games are lost....I'd rather have guys that won't make a mistake..than the guys that make big plays....just a coaching peeve of mine....

I'm the bad guy....for telling the truth...and everyone is in here fellating Fassel....LOL......not a hater....opinionated, yeah....but not a hater.

I like Fassel as our ST coach...but he was clearly outcoached in 2 of the last 3 games...

I would rather have Kupp, returning punts....just fair catch them....I'd rather have a RB returning KO's....just my take. Ball security is more important than the occasional big play.

Can't "lose" playoff games and give ST's a pass...that's just crazy....and guys, other that Hekker and GZ...the real ST stars....taking kudos...like "job well done"...that to me is asinine...

This isn’t a clear exaggeration in the slightest or anything. So when you state your stance it’s being opinionated, and when others give their opinions it’s giving Fassel a blowjob? Right. Got it.

I have to look at the entire season to be fair... and, overall, I think Rams Special Teams were very good.

Blocked kicks... returns... discipline... over the course of the entire year, very good.

I see Pharoah is finally able to smile again.
Yeah... the worst thing about that is... it happened in the last game. He has all off season to think about it.

Hope he comes out in game one and runs one back for a TD!

To say a guy is great, when he's clearly been out-coached.....in the most crucial of games....is heaping praise where it does not belong....stroking ones ego....perhaps, out an out lying.

Trick plays, no matter how successful, are a sign of weakness....they are cool to watch....

Special teams goal should be not to lose games....make safe tackles, no penalties, and the most important fact, protect the ball.

Football is a game of field position...taking and protecting territory. Kinda militaristic....Chess like...We seem to celebrate the ST's by hyping the returns....the blocked punts....instead of playing it safe and simply improving field position by having a productive offense...and stout defense...along with tight coverage....and "safe" returns...of course all without penalties....and the penalties with the turnovers...is why our return team is probably average.

hmmmm,
go back 4 or 5....check the penalties...what do you see?

Without Hekker, what are the ST's units?

The start of this thread was in reference to getting 4 STs guys into the pro bowl. I never said he was great. I said he should be proud of his unit. I simply meant that in terms of getting 4 guys into the pro bowl. Did the special teams have shortcomings? Absolutely! However, this thread was about getting 4 guys from the STs unit voted in to the game which is what my comment was in reference to.

You are correct...that was dog that referenced the ST's in such a way....your comments of "very proud" & "job well done" could be interpreted as coach Fassell did great...which is how I took the combination of all these comments.

I’m very proud of how I changed my financial situation this year, but my financial situation is not great. I think having 4 guys make the pro bowl from your unit is something that he should be proud of, but it doesn’t mean I think he’s great. There were plenty of things I didn’t like about the way the Special teams played, but overall I think the unit did well.

And I don’t think there’s really any way that my comment can be interpreted as me saying he’s great. I really don’t want to go back and forth about this. You aren’t happy about the special teams this past season and that’s your right, but I don’t think people who think differently should have to catch flack for that opinion. There is a lot of impressive stuff that happened on STs this year, even if it was just individual performances. Regardless, I respect your opinion and I really wish we could leave it at that.
