Looks like Williams is now 2nd string LT and he played well for most part and was put in while Goff was still in game and protected him. So that was encouraging.

This year an injury to Whitworth could cost the Rams 6 or 7 wins easy. Possibly more as it would be the biggest negative impact that a team could suffer this year for a non QB injury.

Thomas also got nuked on punt return, dude put him down pretty good. Think it was in the second quarter, memory's fuzzy as I was drinking.

Mack came clean off the edge quite a bit early in the game too. On the TD Goff threw for that matter. I'm sure in a real game McVay would have adjusted, but still it could have become an issue over more snaps.

Also as happy as I am with McVay's play calling and overall offensive preparation, you could see the Raiders start to really tighten up on some of the short stuff as the game went on. I think he's going to have to take more shots downfield and he probably will in week 3 since Watkins should have a better feel for the offense with another week.

OL did a lot of good things, played much better tonight so hope it continues.

Defense looks deep and solid. To think I was concerned with our CBs. Hill's TD he gave up was irritating but meh, they do have a playoff level offense so that stuff's gonna happen. Was very irritated by that flag on Joyner. Only criticism I can make is with the safeties, suspect they've got some stuff to sort but still overall a very strong showing as expected.

I have to think that with Donald and Quinn in there, and Watkins once he knows the offense, this team has enough pieces to do some really good stuff like contend for the playoffs. But we have 2 more preseason games to go so here's hoping this team continues to grow and hits the season on a roll.

Posted in the GDT:

Just finished watching the first half couple things I noticed.

Vinovich is a horrible ref.

The Raiders announcers are even worse than him especially Millen.

Gabe Jackson is a lil punk. Saw on the drive that Crabtree scored on there were several plays he kept hitting guys especially Tree after the play was over.

Most of all I've really enjoyed watching this offense :D

But it's a totally different team if Whitworth, Saffold, Sullivan or Havenstein go down. The scary thing is only one of those has been durable.

Yep. We gotta hope for some injury luck this year or that Kromer is a miracle man. And we gotta hope that Sammy Watkins stays healthy.

I'm rewatching rt now. Was playing with my son during the live action... So I couldn't give my full attention. Initial thoughts... The CBS camera work in the 1st Q so far is crap. Missed quite a few plays becuz the camera man is behind the action. (Kupp TD, fade to Sammy) wth, dude?

Even on the Crabtree TD against Hill, Troy would have at least had a shot at a tackle if the Raiders field wasn't complete trash to play on.

Also, the draft class is really looking like it's pretty special top to bottom. (Jury is still out on our two OLBs who are injured). Really needed some good players out of it without that 1st and 3rd round pick.

I was thinking the same thing, every draft pick this year that played in the 1st half looked good same with last week. I haven't watched the 2nd half yet.

He caught a fourth down pass, broke free up the middle of the defense, spun off a tackle, and then got hit helmet-to-helmet as he was going down. He had a nice game prior to the big hit. But he has plenty of time to recover.
Yep.

I wasn't able to watch the game but I watch the highlights quite a few times. One thing is for sure, Witworth is undoubtably the biggest acquisition of the off-season (outside of coaching staff). I think it would be silly for anyone to argue that. That monster of a man locks up that entire side of the line.

Gurley was patient, and hit the holes with authority. He looks to be in rookie season form which is a big time plus.

Although Higbee and Everett struggled to block one of the best pass rusher's in the league. There is no doubt that they both have solid receiving skills. However, Everett has the upper hand with his elusiveness.

It is not hard to notice how much of a difference the WR corps is from this year to the last 5 years or more combined.

And for Goff.... don't know what more you could ask for by seeing the improvements he's made; and he is only going to get better with McVay.

Overall, it was very refreshing to see the performance ( highlights for me ) that our Rams have made.

My experience today while watching the 2nd preseason game (texts to my brother during the game):

1.) "Rams of old...I have tears in my eyes. It's been so long since I've seen this"
2.) "Kupp is killer....I think Kupp is becoming my favorite player... He was my favorite draft pick"
3.) "I may be eating crow on Everett. He keeps impressing"
4.) "Remember how the Rams offense used to be guaranteed 3 and out nearly every drive? Not these Rams...I'm liking what McVay is doing"
5.) "Defenses have to play honest...Our run game is doing fine"
6.) "My favorite thing about these Rams, they catch the f***ing ball!!!"
7.) "Justin Davis is shifty and quick af"

I haven't had such a fun and happy chat with my bro about our Rams in a LOOOOONG time!

8.) "Horns up!!!"

-Not flagging defender for leading with crown on helmet to helmet hit that knocked out Thomas(most bullcrap missed call I have seen in a while).
THIS ^ was insane! I was screaming at the TV, especially when the announcer called it a clean hit, even after the replay!!:seizure:

The blocking was there tonight. I'm good with him holding the ball if we're giving him time. No reason to rush throws if the OL is doing its job.

Obviously, it could be a problem if the OL has issues in the future, but I expect Goff would adjust. He was moving nicely in the pocket too today. We also got away with at least a couple blatant holds.
80% Comp. rate, he has to improve on that, or else he's a BUST!!:D:rolllaugh:

Jamon is a question mark but we'll see.
Brown was 1000% better this week over last. I think he's going to be OK! I can't say it enough, the O-Line looked awesome against the Raider's and they're a good Football Team!!

IF the team continues to grow at this rate, I will feel really comfortable with my "13-3" prediction for the Rams this Season!!(y);):D:yay::yess:

In the 1st Q I saw several runs to the OUTSIDE and a pitch out to TG. My gameday chatroom brothers know that I scream for this every game. We would rarely see it,,, it was always a BS run up the middle that went NOwhere last season. Great job mixing it up on offense.

Biggest thing about this game, what just jumped off the screen the most - ALL OF THE SEPERATION AND SPACE.

Its been a long time since we have seen multiple open targets consistently.
Goff made great decisions and I am impressed but seriously go back and look at how many options our QBs have on each throw.

Its almost.... like the RAMS have a.... real NFL Offense....
