Am sad we lost a 5th rd LB, and we can all rightly say "how did we miss on that pick", but soon, people are gonna be asking themselves, around the league, "how did we miss on drafting Dolac?? Lucky Rams!!"
This kid is gonna eat RBs and TEs all day long. Sideline to sideline. High RAS except for ht and wt.
Best of luck indeed to Paul, I had high hopes too, but sometimes we get lucky enough to replace good with better. He's not AD by any stretch, but many said he was a luxury pick at the time. But we replaced good with g.o.a.t. lol.

What touching grass instead of arguing with other Rams fans about a 4th LB backup special teamser on the depth chart..

I'm just thinking there should be a way to develop guys like him without losing them to a hated division rival.
I'm in the "we gave up on him too soon" camp.
The Rams are a very good team. They are gonna cut guys that are good enough to make other teams—or at least their PS. They might end up having good careers. Win some lose some.

There was a time when the Rams couldn’t finalize THEIR roster until they got a look at other teams’ cuts.

The league has been raiding the Rams staff, then their FO, as well as signing their ex-players for several seasons.

It is what it is—The Rams are a top organization and teams want some of it to rub off on them.

I think McVay said it clearly on why Reeder and Dolan beat out Paul. It's about performance and winning and earning a spot on the final roster. It's also an ongoing process all season. The bottom of the roster is always getting churned as you need to fill spots as attrition takes its toll during the season. Reeder could get cut, brought back, cut again. Bottom of the roster is always a fluid thing.
I believe McVay also emphasized ST value as well, and not just in THIS particular case.

The Rams had 4 cut players not clear waivers and land on a team's 53 (league high). Willie Lampkin went to Eagles 53.
31 other Teams passed on Pooh Paul. He landed on Seahawks Practice Squad. Not sure if we made an offer, or if he dissed us.
That’s impressive. Who were the other 3?

I don't know if it just me, but I don't like 220lb MLBers this is more like the size I want in a SS. I trust this coaching staff and sometimes we as fans think we know better than the coaches, but I will defer to Coach McVay and his staff when it comes to personal decisions.

We didn’t lose him. The Rams decided he wasn’t good enough for the 53 man roster. That’s all it is. I thought it was a solid pick for Special teams. But he was 224 lbs. Apparently the Rams didn’t think he was enough of an asset on STs.

I can get people being upset that a player with potential is cut.
What I can't get, is people almost GLOATING that someone got cut,
"bECausE sNeaD and McvAY kNoe BEst!".

I don’t understand either one.

In this case there is a lot of angst about not retaining a fifth round 224lb linebacker. Maybe the Rams recent drafting success has many thinking that they can’t miss on a fifth round pick even. Many fifth round picks don’t last long.

If this was a first or second round pick, I could understand stand the outrage a little. That would be a big wasted opportunity.

Especially when we got a better rookie iLB instead with Dolac.

Just a correction to some people who are saying that the Seahawks signed Paul Jr. because the Rams stupidly didn't put him on the 53-man roster. You are wrong.

Paul Jr. was NOT signed to Seattle's 53! He wasn't signed by anyone. After he went unclaimed, he AGREED to sign with the Seahawks to their Practice Squad. Obviously, he was peeved about not making the Rams' 53 OR MAYBE McVay wasn't happy with him for some reason. We don't know yet.

This is VERY different from the other four Rams who were signed to the 53's on their new team--all guys signed off waivers HAVE to be put on the new team's 53-man roster.

  • Willie Lampkin IV was claimed by the Philadelphia Eagles
  • Cornerback Derion Kendrick was claimed off waivers by the Seattle Seahawks
  • Brennan Jackson was claimed by the Las Vegas Raiders
  • Cornerback Charles Woods was claimed by the New England Patriots
Yeah, maybe letting Paul Jr. go was a huge mistake, but not a single NFL team was willing to put him on their 53!

I don't think ANYONE thought Kendrick, Jackson, or Woods would be put on anyone's 53, but apparently all those guys were more in demand than Paul Jr.

I don't have anything against Paul Jr., but he was vastly overrated by fans.

It speaks volumes that no team claimed Chris Paul
