The 9ers have to be very unhappy with how Crapoppolo played in the Super Bowl. So many poor passes by him, even some of his throws that were caught were so poorly placed they affected what could have been explosive plays. It wasn't the scheme that made the 9ers choke. It was the players, and to a large extent their well-paid QB.
Now I'm sure there are some who will say he played just like Goff did in his Super Bowl. But Goff had zero run game to fall back on (Gurley averaged 3.5 ypc and Anderson 3.1 ypc). He was missing Kupp as well.
Crapoppolo had good ypc on the ground for most of the game (Mostert 4.8 and Coleman 5.6) and 141 total yards. He had a full complement of pass catchers who were getting open too.
And what is really interesting is how the Chiefs went with a lot of heavy rushes (6 men typically) later in the game in passing situations to bury him. He was basically beaten before the game was over IMO. So you can bet your ass Crapoppolo is going to see a ton of blitzing this year and teams putting the hits on him.
The best part here: if he struggles this season their thought process is going to be that they need to go get a QB. Which is not good for sustaining winning.
