I believe the team that will swoop in and make a big trade for Stafford will be the Las Vegas Raiders. Rams will sign Garoppolo to a two year deal, sign Zach Wilson to back him up.

Voted no. But not as sure as I was a couple weeks ago. The talk has been gaining steam and neither side is confirming or denying.

I voted yes.

The Rams will need that money to pay all the emerging young stars in the next few years; you can't keep giving more and more money to an ageing player who may already be in decline. The other thing is that Stafford's reported demands go completely against the Rams' "We, not me" culture.

Trade Stafford for a first and second this year, and go from there.

I voted no, but I am an optimist. The longer this goes on the harder that gets, but I believe what is best for the Rams is having Stafford under center. I think that is what McVay thinks as well. Hopefully the FO and Stafford will get their shit together.

If he is unwilling to honor the contract he signed (especially after the Rams altered it last year in his favor) if another team wants to give some semblance of value, then trade him. The Rams can use the savings and the pick(s) elsewhere.

No way. We were 14 yds away from a NFC Championship led by Staff, and a paper tiger team in Wash away from a SB appearance. Both sides know this. I don't see Staff picking the highest bidder in a potential trade just to end up back on a team that resembles what he went through with the Lions his first 12 yrs in the nfl. He wants to compete, not retire on a losing team.

I don't think you can predict what will happen. Things can turn quickly with this team. Who would have predicted the Rams would trade Jones for pretty much nothing right before the season started? No one. No one on this message board has the slightest clue what's going to happen.

I really don't understand this line of thinking. This is how the NFL works. When you have leverage, go get your money. When these contracts are signed, nobody expects the deal to go to the end of the contract. It is always renegotiated or terminated due to the cap.

I voted no because, ultimately, I think he stays on a re worked deal. If some team is willing to pay him 60+ and also willing to send us good draft capital, I think we might be foolish to not do it. I do not want us to be paying him 60+ for the next 3 years under really any circumstances.

The Rams spend up to the salary cap each year, factoring in a small budget for emergencies, so every dollar they add to Stafford's contract, they have to take away from elsewhere. I'd like to keep Stafford, but they need the money elsewhere, and since he's 37 it is almost time to move on anyway.

And he would expect the Rams to honor the contract.

While true, he also has only played 2 of the 4 years of it and already renegotiated it once. The only time he wasn’t trying to get a new or revised deal was after ‘22, possibly his worst season as a pro and heading in to the first year of the extension
