Mostly just Young. I liked some CSNY and really liked most Buffalo Springfield and even some Stills/Young. But I was mostly into early Neil stuff. Unfortunately, I think most of his latest stuff is kind of trite, mailed in BS. But you go back to Harvest, Everybody Knows This is Nowhere, on up to Rust and even Hawks and Doves. There were so many great songs and lyrics. To this day, my favorite song of all time bar none is the long version of Like a Hurricane. I want them to play that and SRVs Tin Pan Alley (yeah I know he didn't write it) at my wake. And they better play them at volumes that will make your ears bleed. I will be crying from my ashes.? ' Crosby - Stills - Nash & Young!' or just Young alone!?:shades:
I really liked most everything CSNY did. It may have been "Mailed in" But I REALLY Liked BS! There was a lot to like in that whole Era of Music!! Of course it was my Big 'Party Time' period in my Life!:shades:Mostly just Young. I liked some CSNY and really liked most Buffalo Springfield and even some Stills/Young. Paul liked to fuse classical elements into rock like string quartets and etc. The song Penny Lane was an early work with brilliant lyrics and incorporates the picolo trumpet.

As time went on it became pretty obvious that John and Paul were going in opposite directions musically. That, and adding Harrison going in yet another way, was part of what made their product so rich and interesting. Anything that either John or Paul wrote was always as "Lennon/McCartney" but you could tell the writer by who sang it. Harrison's work was under his own by line. Paul and John actually both independently wrote a song about the same event and they decided to stick the two together and make the song "A Day in the Life" You can see the difference in approach. Pretty interesting.
