By the way..
McVay got Jared Goff to the Super Bowl.

Thanks for playing.
The question is will he get his retread to the SB and is he coaching him the same way? Is his approach correct in putting it all on his QBs shoulder's?

but but ground and pound even if you're down 3 or 4 scores
When the Bucs got hot, Fournett was a huge part of it. He was a key player in their stretch run.

Yeah the word "contender" is a bit vague. I'm assuming original post was a veiled jab at McVay by making yet another thread complaining about him but doesn't really compute. Sure, you can contend with a rookie QB for a spot in the playoffs. Not sure what the point is.
Point is going forward the Pats are in a good spot and I fear we are in a bit more precarious position.

....and they are a contender with cap space for the next 4-5 yrs since they are not paying $25M plus for a QB.

So a defensive minded coach can develop a mid first rounder but our genius can't?

Just shows McVay can only win one way and we have seen that these last few weeks. That is his weakness. It has to change or he will be at best another Don Coryell, Mike Martz, Sam Wyche, even Andy Reid who if not for hitting a gold mine in Mahomes still wouldn't have won a SB.

All good coaches with solid careers, but limited.
To what extent has Belichick developed Jones? Jones was the most pro ready QB in the draft. If he so good at developing a QB then why didn't he do so with Cam Newton and Jacobs Brisset? Belching got lucky that the Niners took ceiling over floor with the Lance pick. So he was able to choose a good QB that isn't prone to making mistakes under pressure and has a good running game to rely on.

Well he seems to be improving each week.

My overall point is that you shouldn't have to burn two first rounders to get a 33 yr old QB... especially if you have an offensive genius as a head coach.

Goff was drafted #1 overall and we couldn't turn him into a serviceable player.

not really fournette averaged 30 yards rushing per game the during the end of year winning streak.

in the playoffs he averaged 75 ypg... so a bit more relevent.. but not sure about "huge"

TB honestly won a bunch of strange games where they didnt really play consistent on offense but their defense had some timely turnovers.

in the superbowl their pass rush won the game.

Goff was acquired in a trade up. Some years there aren't any good QBs at all. Jones is a good QB. Just like Brady was. My point was just that. Belching doesn't make chicken salad out of chicken shit. Otherwise he'd have had other QBs ready to take over for Brady.

Now I will agree that He picnic is offense is more QB friendly, but he did not invent it. McVay's offense looks simple but puts a lot on a QBs shoulders. And I also think the Offensive genius label is overplayed with McVay. He essentially runs Shanahan offense with a few wrinkles and some philosophical differences. As in Shanahan sticks to the strong running game while McVay loves the big explosive plays. McVay is an organizational coach imo. He is great at running the show and getting more from his players and building a good team. If he was an offensive genius then he wouldn't be struggling with a repeating defensive strategy that so many teams have had success with against him.
