You mean last yr where he got away from the run enough where we ended up losing the division, thus not having home field advantage and ultimately put us in GB playing the Packers coming off a bye?

And no I didn't forget about 18' and the Dallas playoff game... But apparently McVay did.

See, every pass happy coach has a coming to Jesus moment and gets back to the run. Have seen that here in Philly for yrs with Reid & Pederson and even recently with their new guy.

The key is do you stick with it or is it just a short term mindset that evaporates over time?

With McVay it's short term because he is convinced he has to win using 11 personnel and throwing it 35-40 times a game.

Last year the buccaneers ranked 29th in rush offense.... The chiefs the year before 27th...

Your last two super bowl winners 29th and 27th rush offenses....

How much you run the ball or pass the ball is an over simplification made my media heads and arm-chair fans..

Also in 2020 the Rams passed the pall 26th out of 32 least frequently.... 55%

But what about the other rookie QBs?

Trevor Lawrence
Zach Wilson
Trey Lance
Justin Fields

They aren't playing that well. And you can look at second year guys like Hurts and Tua. Herbert's the only one that's playing well from that group.

The Patriots happened to draft the right guy for their system.
I would think a brilliant offensive mind like McVay could identify "his guy" for "his system"

Just saying I am not sure getting a vet retread was not the only option, especially with the draft capital that was given up in the process gor a team in need of sone young high talent players.

Not sure we can survive with 3 or 4 star vets and a bunch of JAGS.

From the looks of things he did quite a job turning Goff into a SB qb but how much do we really know about the pats with wins against the jets twice, the panthers, the chargers, the browns and falcons.
Can this guy become Brady 2.0? Who knows, but we’ll see what they’re made of coming down the stretch with the bills and titans coming up

Those wins are all against young-ish coaches too. Easy for a guy who has been coaching since Knute Rockne was a kid to outscheme and outcoach those guys...

Maybe "contenders" for a Wildcard spot in the AFC. Underline MAYBE.

That game last night against the PATHETIC ATL falcons wasn't anything to be impressed with.

Their next four games will reveal what this cheating organization has to play for the rest of the year.

Home vs Titans
@ Bills
@ Colts
Home vs Bills

Let's hold off on crowning their asses with anything else other than Cheaters for now.

Yeah the word "contender" is a bit vague. I'm assuming original post was a veiled jab at McVay by making yet another thread complaining about him but doesn't really compute. Sure, you can contend with a rookie QB for a spot in the playoffs. Not sure what the point is.

Here is what I'll say about McVay visa vis the running game.

  • He should not have abandoned the run last Monday, and played into Shanny's hand when it was clear the ground game was working
  • I'm sure he's in his own head about how he can't count on his current running game given key injury to Akers, Hendo's fragility, and the fact the next guy was the WORST guy in BB's backfield
That said, he's got to get over it or the Rams are destined to repeat this nightmare every week hereafter.

It helps their last 5 games have been against average to below average teams

but but ground and pound even if you're down 3 or 4 scores

....and they are a contender with cap space for the next 4-5 yrs since they are not paying $25M plus for a QB.

So a defensive minded coach can develop a mid first rounder but our genius can't?

Just shows McVay can only win one way and we have seen that these last few weeks. That is his weakness. It has to change or he will be at best another Don Coryell, Mike Martz, Sam Wyche, even Andy Reid who if not for hitting a gold mine in Mahomes still wouldn't have won a SB.

All good coaches with solid careers, but limited.
If only our genius had delivered us a winning season or improved on the Fisher era. WAF loser.

By the way..
McVay got Jared Goff to the Super Bowl.

Thanks for playing.

Oh… and two future firsts have about the same trade value as the Number 15 overall pick.

A couple of things:

If we're looking at this past draft, Mac was projected to go as high as 3 to the 9ers but went 15th to the Patriots. Trading up that high requires the same draft capital that we used for Stafford, if not more. The 9ers traded 3 first rounders to move up for Lance.

Mac is playing okay for a rookie but not as good as Stafford, even with the two game slump. His passer rating is 106.1, which is 4th behind Dak Kyler and Brady.

Don't forget about JG's contract. It was a big part of the deal and comes off the books next year.

WTF ? Andy Reed is known as being one of the best to develop a QB.He has had the same QB for how many straight seasons. Even with Alex Smith he did bring in Gold.In Philly ?
He kept the same guy.
BB cheat has developed QB’s for years…Last year he tried it with Cam,but there have been many times like Jimmy G & Hoyer.

Yes, and you could say Reid traded for Smith as a stop gap, but he developed another QB.
