Sorry as a fellow life-long resident of the SF Bay Area -- a/k/a home to the worst sports media & fans in the universe -- I had to correct that.

Listening to KNBR as we speak. Bunch of pompous blow hards. It's true.

You play friendlies in hockey. It's just not as common as soccer, maybe. It's much more common during Olympic years.
I see. Leave it to a bunch of Euros to try to soften up the game of Hockey. I suppose instead of "checking", they have "nudging" too.

Silly... the US Olympic team plays friendlies against NHL teams and college teams. That's the first time I saw it...

Colin Kaepernick - QB - 49ers
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports Colin Kaepernick will not be traded to the Broncos.

Per Cole, Kaepernick will not take a pay cut, and the 49ers refuse to "pay off part of deal to make trade happen." You should never say never in the high-stakes game of NFL negotiations, but it appears the 49ers and Kap are now working toward a reconciliation. Kap reported for the start of the team's offseason program on Monday. By staying in San Francisco, Kap would be locking himself into $14.3 million between salary and bonuses. He's probably decided it's worth gambling on himself for 2016.

Colin Kaepernick shows up for 49ers workouts

When Colin Kaepernick gets sound (and free) advice, he knows when to take it.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, the 49ers-for-now quarterback showed up at the team facility today, as the team opened its first offseason program under coach Chip Kelly.

Of course, that’s not necessarily a sign that he’s staying there for long, as the wheels have been in motion for a possible deal to Denver.

But if nothing else, Kaepernick’s arrival keeps all his options open, and keeps him in line for some extra money. He has a $400,000 workout bonus if he participates in 90 percent of the 49ers workouts, and at the moment, he’s sitting on 100 percent.

Again, his presence doesn’t preclude a deal, even though his $11.9 million became guaranteed without offset if he’s injured during the program. But it’s unclear how much he’s even able to do, as he recovers from multiple offseason surgeries. But he’s there, for the moment, still Kelly’s best option at quarterback.

I sure hope he stays and they decide they don't need a QB in the first round of the draft.

Ok, Broncos, so it didn't work out with Kap. We've got Nick Foles, how 'bout it?

I still say Kap will wind up a Bronco when it's all said and done.

Does this mean that the Whiners are targeting Goff or Wentz now? FFS

I still find it funny that some of us are slating the 9ers and their contract with Kaepernick, when we have Nick Foles on our Roster (possibly our current #3) At over $12m+ this year...

Pot and kettle is all I'm saying

Not even close to same CAP implications. Foles contract for 2017 is voidable, so he's an easy move. Kaep has about 30 mill of guarantee left

actually Kaep's deal is arguably the most team friendly deal ever. They can move on from him without any dead money after any season.

edit: unless hes injured. its only guaranteed for injury

Kaep has a 14 mill base salary next year that fully guarantees April 1. ITs not a friendly deal if you want to keep him, but not at that number

Foles only counts 8.75 Million this year with 1 Million dead money when cut next year...

We also dislike both the Whinners and Krapernick. That a marriage made in Rams heaven. The more money they have to pay him the better.

Its a pay as you go deal. If he performs well and seems to be your starting QB you keep him at a price lower than a lot of QBs make. If he sucks you cut him and have no dead money. Im pretty sure any and every team would love to have a deal like that for every player.

Its the paying him 12-14 mill that teams don't like.
The point missed here is that with Foles, his cap number is pretty minimal, and can be kept around as a back up who can be released next season at no cost.
Kaepernick on the other hand would be traded for to be the starter, and will carry a heavy salary (commensurate to starter pay) Sure you could walk on the deal but if you're trading for him its for him to be your starter. And as starter you're stuck with a heavy number

My bad, its a $12m average - this year is only $8.75M - still a shed load for a 3rd stringer...
