I'm looking forward to seeing the Ram's NFL worst run defense (165 ypg) against the Packers 2nd best rushing attack (174 ypg) in the NFL
Will it be time to try something different? 8 in the box? Run blitzs? Maybe a 5 man Dline with Verse and Young as the LB's?
Or will we continue with the same Dline/LB's personnel and alignments which have produced league worst results?
GB is definitely a good running team, but not quite as scary when you consider they only have two rushing TDs so far, neither by Jacobs. And a 114 yds of rushing from Willis, plus one of those TDs, over two games that you're unlikely to get from a gimpy Love enhances that ranking quite a bit.
Flipside, the disaster in AZ forces the LAR ranking down significantly, too. Conner was probably the most consistent runner vs LAR, but those numbers only really got out of hand because of Murray's 59 and a 41 yarder by some guy named Demarcado in garbage time.
I could see the Ram ILBs getting ripped for one of those Reed sweep deals or Verse giving up an edge to Jacobs for one of those 30 yarders that have enhanced his stats quite a bit. Good runblocking OL, for sure, but so were The Whiners ; Mason 19/77, Purdy added 41. They even bottled up Swift pretty well until that long 30+ yarder.
Control the explosives & QB scrambles & it looks doable to me. Not easy with JJ3 out & teams ever more mercilessly exploiting the Reeder/Rozeboom weakness, but doable.
