Weinke has worked with Christian Ponder, however, he also was with Frank Cignetti in San Francisco back in 2007 with Shaun Hill. Overall, IMO, the best option in free agency much to the chagrin of many is Marc Sanchez. Sanchez is one of the few free agents that young and has actually won playoff games, but he will cost the most.

IMO I could see the Rams bringing in Ponder, he's athletic and has started close to 40 games over his career and that's only if Weinke feels good about him. Then if Hundley last until the second round for the Rams I could see them drafting Hundley. That way behind Bradford they would have two mobile quarterbacks and most likely come across well from a cerebral standpoint.

Now quite frankly I don't want a plan B, I want Bradford to play a whole season, but I also want Scarlett Johansson to whisper sweat nothings into my ear! I'm hoping the latter is far more unrealistic than the health of Sam the Ram.

However, when you look at what is out there, Shaun Hill does not look that bad although he's another year older. Ponder seems to have regressed, but again I only post about Ponder because of the history with Weinke FWIW.
Nothing there excites.
Spending more for Sanchez?....probably a lot more, no thanks....Ponder is just blah.

I'm pretty sure if Sam goes down again and we have to resort to plan B, it's going to probably be this:

Ha....
I didn't know they had a camera on me at the sports bar I was watching the Rams Browns preseason game in last year....

No, he didn't. Hoyer is much better than Shaun Hill.

He had some bad games, but he also played with a group of WRs that wouldn't make the Rams roster.

What has Moore done to ever make you think he's good??? I'd take Hoyer over him in a heartbeat...the guy has won games, and done so with less talented WRs.
I don't believe Hoyer is better at all.
That said, even if he is a little better how much more is he going to cost? If Hill was to stay for $1.7 to $2M a year and Hoyer cost $4M?....Im not spending that extra money for Hoyer.

Yeah I concur I guess realistically, Matt Moore would be the best option, he's younger than Hill and more athletic although as @jrry32 points out, Moore has not seen much action since 2011. I'm warming up to Hundley if he's there in second... @DR RAM
and @Corbin rate him high and I respect both those posters immensely.

Im not a fan of Hundley (not that you asked, cause you didn't)....he seems like he would need a ton of work. He is a one look guy to me.
I much prefer Grayson from Colorado St., he is much more developed to me.

I like Grayson too, it's too bad he tweaked a hamstring at the combine and could not participate. Ran more of a conventional offense under now Gator Head Coach Jim McElwain so the adjustment from the spread should not be that overwhelming.

If you by combine only I was very impressed with Bryce Petty. Seemed very composed and made all the throws the transition from the spread would take some time, but I think he'll score very high on the wonderlic and strikes me as a QB that won't make many mistakes.

Honestly from the discussion here most know it's obvious any veteran options are very limited and even though I rate Hundley high he's not my preferred option he's my only realistic option at plan B, or the best one as thing stands right now. We have a lame duck year for QB prospects and FA/Vets.... F U Indy with being fortunate to get Manning/Luck back to back!
