HOF Kurt Warner 93.7 QB Rating

Kirk Cousins 97.0 QB Rating

Kurt Warner played with Faulk, Bruce, Holt and Hakeem then Fitzgerald and Bolden.

you can't compare the passer rating for qbs from different eras. with the way the rules have changed you'd probably have to take the passer ratings now down by 20 compared to qbs back then.

i'm not sure if you're being serious or not with your cherry picking stats.

look at the league average passer rating throughout the years.

No, you can't. The rules have changed big time. Passer ratings from before the 1980's are always lower because of the rules. The WR's were literally mugged by the DB's going down the field. Today you would be screaming DPI on every play if you saw it. Then they changed again when they started protecting the QB. The NFL has been pushing more scoring for years to help boost ratings. Although, I don't think the actual scores have gone up.

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Cousins due to his honest and heartfelt props to Goff, at mid-field, after that 2018 Thursday Night Football thriller. Good dude.

Ah, rule changes. Here are some from each year with a few added teams that appear to be affected most. Keep in mind roster/coaching changes and other x-factors may also be the case.
(I was bored!)

1972: hash marks moved in to boost offense. (defenses now could not use sideline as extra defender)
Highest points scored adjustment from 1971: Dolphins, Redskins, Steelers
Super Bowl: Dolphins 14, Redskins 7

1974: Goalposts moved to back of end zone. (to open up end zone pass patterns)
Biggest jump in passing TDs from 1973: Vikings, Raiders, Cardinals
Super Bowl: Steelers 16, Vikings 6

1976: Facemask penalties enforced (5 for incidental, 15 for twisting/pulling)
Most defensive penalties (facemasks unavailable): Bucs, Oilers, Seahawks
Most 1st downs allowed by penalty: Broncos, Saints, Raiders
Super Bowl: Raiders 32, Vikings 14

Rams: 45 in 1976, 36 in 1977
Youngblood: 12.5 in 1976, 7 in 1977
Super Bowl: Cowboys 27, Broncos 10

1978: Outlawed contact with receivers beyond 5 yards, OL can extend arms blocking
League totals before/after: 1977: 388 TD passes/1978: 468 TD passes
Biggest jump passing yards/TDs: Chargers (both; before Coryell), Saints (yards), Steelers (TDs)
Super Bowl: Steelers 35, Cowboys 31

1981: chop block eliminated from pass plays (9ers were notorious for this even after changes)
Biggest drop in passing yards/TDs from 1980: Saints, Rams (minus Ferragamo), Eagles (yards)
Super Bowl: 49ers 26, Bengals 21

1981: Stickum is outlawed (Lester Hayes Rule), Biletnikoff retired in 1978
Biggest drop in catches from 1980: Jefferson (-43), Earl Cooper (-32), William Andrews (-30)
Biggest drop in interceptions: Hayes (-10), he had 13 in 1980

False Start: 1994 - 454, 2018 - 566

Okay this turned into a project lol so I'm leaving out a lot of other stuff including additional & extended rule changes. Originally wanted to list these to signify changes that effect QB ratings, what teams may have benefited... and a lot of other factors involved. Game has changed a lot, we all know that much!

Would like to see number of QB injuries with these stats. Me thinks they haven't subsided much.

1994:

3 QBs lost for the season: wk 5 Carlson (Oilers), wk 9 Beuerlien (Cardinals), wk 10 Mitchell (Lions).

Chris Miller (Rams) missed 6 games from 2 concussions.
Erik Kramer (Bears) missed 11 games throughout season (shoulder)
wk 9 Troy Aikman was decked (helmet to chin during a released throw) by Wilbur Marshall (Cardinals) and had to leave the game (concussion). No penalty.

2018:

wk 2 Marcus Mariotta - missed 2 games (elbow & stinger), replaced by Gabbert, who was knocked out of next game (concussion)
wk 3 Jimmy Garappolo - torn ACL vs Chiefs, lost for season
wk 9 Joe Flacco - hip injury vs Pittsburgh, missed 7 games, Lamar Jackson became starter
wk 11 Alex Smith - gruesome leg injury vs Texans, lost for season - wk 13 backup Colt McCoy (broken leg), out rest of season
wk 12 Andy Dalton - (thumb), out remainder of season
Josh Allen - missed 4 games (elbow)
Sam Darnold - missed 3 games (foot)
Cam Newton - missed last 2 games (shoulder)
