I’m distracted watching my Rams play! (Colorado State) ~ Memento

Better them than the Kansas Chickenhawks.

Personally, I will be thrilled if OBJ returns to the Rams but I am assuming it is all going to depend on the MONEY!!!

If Dec. 13 is an accurate arrival date for OBj, his 2022 CAP hit will likely be less than his 2021 charge when he started around Nov. 15, ... and his CAP hit was only $850,000. last year. The bulk of OBj's salary last year were built into his incentives which came out of the Rams 2022 CAP.
In other words, expect most of OBj's 2022 money to come out of our 2023 CAP.

It was odd that he said the 13th he was killing it in rehab I know it can sometimes take almost a full year but it's been mentioned several times mid November now mid dec? We play Green Bay on the 13 what if he said that meaning or kidding that he will be on green Bay and see Kupp and the Rams then lololol

The Rams have a lot of guys to sign next year. The Rams made him an offer months ago basically the same structure as last year and he turned it down. He wants a regular multi year deal probably in the $13M/yr range. He can probably get that from the Bills. iMO the Rams solved their WR problem with Robinson, the rise of Tutu and McCutcheon. OBJ was Woods replacement, but that's now filled with Robinson.

The Rams now have other priorities next year. I'd rather have Gaines on an extension rather than an aging, injury prone WR. Look at the list of Ram FA next year. Now look at their cap right now. They have $2.5M in cap space which is half of what a team normally wants to start a season. Any injury will make it difficult to replace during the season. This is a business and as such they still are subject to the fiscal needs of the business. OBJ had his opportunity and muffed it because he got greedy. So now he will go join his good buddy Miller in Buffalo. Playing on that frozen field will be great for his bad knees.

The Rams gave him the opportunity to get his ring. So much for loyalty, by pricing himself out of the market. So much for him saying last year he would give the Rams a hometown discount to re-sign.

I don't agree entirely with the above post. For starters we don't know what was discussed between he and the Rams all we can really do is speculate and every time one of thinks we got it something else comes out to shoot it down. Whole I do agree athletes can be greedy Obj circumstances were totally different. He like wood and Kupp etc gave us his all on a short time we actually won a ring that without him we would not have won. What I agree with is that this is a business and the Ram must do what best for them and the organization.

Having said that reading and listening to Jourdans podcast with Hammomd Cutch no where near ready as while he showed promise he needs to learn the offense basically in it's entirety and see if he can work within it. But I have maintained all along I see no reason why tutu can't become a Tyreek hill or at least a Tyreek hill light (very light) but. Where I would have the most issue is calling Obj "greedy" again the guy gave his all we don't win a ring without him and he got effed by the the acl done improperly but that's how he gets a bim rap it's not greedy seems he just want s fair he said on his own words he would take a discount before he got injured I would think he would take a discount with the injury. We just don't know what is being discussed. Shouldn't label the dude greedy just yet it's a bit misguided. Let's not forget to he is loved by his teammates so we need to see how it plays out before we hand out blame or labels on player or front office.

The Von Miller thing was more about greed and that was all on numerous recordings so that one absolutely but also loving this regime and front office we did make a boo boo in not locking him up faster if indeed we felt he was worth the money. I think they overplayed there hand a bit there.

As a fan I want Obj back but if the front office begs to differ sure I'd be disappointed but I trust them took years to get here.

After all that if Obj we're to sign for the remainder of this year I don't worry about the cap as we see what they do make it work every season and I don't mind kicking the can down the road when the players are young enough so they could resign gains and Ashawn like a Floyd type deal obviously less money but they still are young enough and will be needed should AD retire/leave after next season. Then the cap should also go up significantly in the next few years as well and after this next draft we get our first rounder back which will probably be traded but a lot of things will be going on but in this window with AD of you can sign Obj for this year and next I'd definitely try to make it happen. It wouldn't matter how good the defense is as we should be able to outscore anyone.

My only concern with this current team besides keeping fingers crossed that Stafford can remain healthy is contingent on that offensive line that could derail an entire offense let alone get your QB killed.

Show me where this is anywhere close to reality please. I've watched almost every Rams presser and follow all their beat writers and never once has any info on them offering him a contract let alone the structure of said offer has ever been mentioned.

I think it was in the press conference when they said they were going to get rid of Rob Havenstein.

OBJ is silky smooth with his routes and so strong-handed. He catches everything in his vicinity, seemingly regardless of the degree of difficulty. I'd love him back if the money works.

Even if guys like Jefferson and Atwell can take that next step, they cannot bring what OBJ does, so I do not think their development would necessarily preclude the Rams from offering another contract to Odell.

OBJ can do it all. He can be a game breaker from the slot, on the outside, high-pointing balls as an end-zone threat, serving as a fade threat, dominating on crossing routes, dominating on deep routes, taking a jet sweep to the house, you name it. He also will demand far more respect from opposing defenses in terms of how they scheme. Players like Jefferson and Atwell have their own strengths too, but they will never provide the total like package OBJ does. I was even surprised by his blocking ability and willingness as a supposed diva.

EDIT - My only concern is his effectiveness post-injury. 2 ACL tears in the same knee in less than 1 year, at his age no less, which is young in absolute terms (which I think will help a lot) but getting up there for a WR at the NFL level, is no joke. Will he be the same? If yes, how long will it take for him to return to form and have full confidence in his surgically repaired knee? The money would have to reflect the risk, but I would not bet against him.
Spot on about the value he brings after two surgeries to the same knee. Everyone is assuming he will come back in be in perfect shape well noone know at this point.

As for using what we have money wise on Odell is a tough pill to swallow. As of today the money technically could go to him, but after 8vgames prior to the trade deadline that maybe a different story. 8 games where any number of injuries could occur weakening a certain position group. We have a bunch of solid backups because most of the starters and backups have been on the team for multiple years which truthfully is a huge advantage compared to most teams but you never know.

But conversely if we can cover up the injured starter with a back up by acquiring Odell puts the offense at 32+ ppg imo. I am projecting 30+ now which is up from last year with Robinson, and Stafford having full year with Kupp and McVay. Who do you guard no team in the league has close to enough strong DBs to handle those 3. We will run people out of the building and maybe that's McVaus strategy like the GSOT with 2 exceptions, they had Pace and Faulk and Faulk was a huge factor.

No there is no way but on that we do have some reporting by the doctor or doctors that his ACL is actually better now because the went ahead and fixed what was actually botched first go around. It is shitty cause had it been done rt the first time this whole thread probably doesn't exist alas it's Cleveland that can't get anything right.
And what you said is what I think the Rams are also waiting to see how he heels it would be silly to sign him and then he has a setback during rehab which isy suspicion is what the Rams are waiting on. My opinion is there is a fair amount of trust and loyalty between the two so if when he ready then hopefully a meeting of the minds will take place.

I think it all depends on how Atwell, Jefferson, and maybe McCutcheon produce on the field.

If one or more of them explode then I would think OBJ becomes unnecessary.

But if all are just so-so then I think OBJ becomes a high priority for the Rams.

Get back to me in late October, IOW.
Honestly I would start McCutchen against Buffalo. I truly think he is that good another Kupp who slipped through the cracks.

McClutch showed great athletic skill but I doubt he has fully comprehended thrr Red playbook and he’s never played against NFL first team defensive players.

Every report also says the knee is better than when we signed him last year. Double ACL injuries are a crap shoot let alone just one but they say he's doing great.

OBJ may or may not be back. That will have to do with his health and contract $, not the health of Rams receivers.

when OBJ was added last year, the Rams had Kupp, Woods and VJ. Woods got hurt after the Rams signed OBJ not before.
