Well, if we're talking about 2017, the 49ers lost by two with Brian Hoyer at QB, if you recall.
That said, the 2018 Rams are not the 2017 Rams, and unless Richard Sherman returns to All Pro form, the 49ers haven't improved all that much defensively. As for offense, the line is now better, and with Garcon returning, so are the WRs, and I feel the running game is a lot better with McKinnon over Hyde (due to scheme fit), but the gains the team made pale in comparison to the gains the Rams have made, I think.
The draft is still to come, of course.
minus the part about richard sherman (if healthy) being the best CB in the league :jerkoff:.I have to say you are very realistic and fair about all this. None of us know how all the pieces will really fit on the field. Sure, it looks like we should be dominant but you never know. I do think you guys are up and coming, just like us and it should make for a few years of really good battles.
"Quick release Jimmy G"Quick release Jimmy G is good if the receivers are open.

Peters. Talib. Suh. Possibly OBJ.
Well, that's a wrap. The Rams will own the West this year. Wanted to be the first 49er fan to offer my congratulations. I hope you face the Patriots in the Super Bowl and avenge the Cheat Bowl from 2001.
Have you heard we're talking about trading for OBJ:mrburnsevil:he only concern now is if Sammy Watkins' departure is going to hurt the offense, and if so, will it undermine the gains in defense.
That's why I didn't wanna give them that last game.....never give these dudes a game. NEVER!:banghead:at least one 49ers player isn’t too worried about it: wide receiver Pierre Garcon. He took to Instagram to say that the Rams “still can’t stop us,” while tagging fellow receiver Marquise Goodwin in the post, along with the hashtag #KeepWinningOnPaper.
me too Rhodydamn, I missed the original title
I like that guy a bunch too....Ran hard in senior bowl....I wonder how the hell did he get beat out atdraft a big running back like Kalen Ballage in the third round
HES DUH GREATEST EVA!!!!The tape on JimmyGee shows little accuracy on anything other than short and intermediate passes mostly between the hashes.
He gets exposed this season.
HES DUH GREATEST EVA!!!!
don’t you know nothing
Jimmy G is the next coming of Matt castleI love the title change the mods did. Brilliant work!
All I'm saying is I think the Rams improved more than the 49ers. But do NOT mistake that for me believing the 49ers have not improved, either. First of all, I think we have a better quarterback, and that is coming from a long time Goff fan (before the Rams drafted him). People still doubting Jimmy G, but not every QB can do THIS on a regular basis like he does. This is a routine play for him (I know, posted already lol):

He just needs to not make Brett Favre decisions, but one must remember he had all of four weeks to learn the offense before he started playing. I am fairly confident that when he actually knows where everyone is going to be he will not lock onto a WR like he admitted to doing some last year due to not knowing the playbook well enough. I mean, he didn't do any of that in New England.
Second, I think Shanahan is an ever so slightly better play caller than McVay. And third, I think when healthy, Sherman is still the best CB in the league.
That said, again, the Rams have improved more. They doubled the strength of their secondary, and they just doubled the strength of their interior pass rush and run defense. I see the Rams finishing no worse than 12-4, and if they do, it will be due to injury or locker room implosion. But I don't see that happening. McVay by all accounts is a very likeable coach, and Wade Phillips demands respect from even the most experienced veterans due to his lifetime of success.
2018 predictions for both teams:
Rams: 11-5 to 13-3 and Home Field Advantage or 2nd seed.
49ers: 8-8 to 10-6 with a sweep of the Tards and a split with the Hawks.
