Many 9er fans have been glorifiying the fact that they beat the Jaguar's top defense, took the Rams to the edge with Hoyer, and beat a bunch of second stringers in the last 2017 game. That's all I see. Well, that was last year...2018 will be a lot different. No one's sneaking up on anybody now.

Well, if we're talking about 2017, the 49ers lost by two with Brian Hoyer at QB, if you recall.

That said, the 2018 Rams are not the 2017 Rams, and unless Richard Sherman returns to All Pro form, the 49ers haven't improved all that much defensively. As for offense, the line is now better, and with Garcon returning, so are the WRs, and I feel the running game is a lot better with McKinnon over Hyde (due to scheme fit), but the gains the team made pale in comparison to the gains the Rams have made, I think.

The draft is still to come, of course.
Yeah but if we are playing that game of this or that then we played Brian Hoyer and won by 2 but this is before we got our run D together in a new scheme still and wasn't corrected until what mid season? He also admit-tingly torched us a lot more than I'd like to admit.

Also to be fair that has a horrible ass game for defense both sides included but entertaining asf to watch! A lot still call it the best Thursday night football game ever, which I'd have to agree. The uniforms, environment, rivalry, fireworks was all pretty good entertainment and suspense.

Unfortunately I hate the direction you guys are going and admit you are by far the biggest threat in the division and if nothing else will finish at worst 2nd. Seashits are done and the Cards... well they are going to draft Mayfield or Lamar so not all to impressive this next year in last. If we compete against anybody I'm glad it's an old rival not those POS overzealous band wagoned rainy city bitch pigeons up north.

Match ups are always interesting. And timing is key as well. I don’t really think you can take much from last season.

It will be interesting to see how JG plays against pressure and tight coverage. It will also be interesting to see how the Rams offense comes out.

Both teams are anything but predictable but I really like our chances. I’m thinking we take both games against your whiners and your team makes the wild card.

I think both games last year against the Whiners were a fluke. The closeness of Thursday night pisses me off. None of us know when we play you yet. But we will crush the Whiners and Jimmygee! This year. Both games.

Peters. Talib. Suh. Possibly OBJ.

Well, that's a wrap. The Rams will own the West this year. Wanted to be the first 49er fan to offer my congratulations. I hope you face the Patriots in the Super Bowl and avenge the Cheat Bowl from 2001.
This is totally the wrong approach imo. We've had a good offseason, and I'm jazzed about it too, but until we can back it up on the field it doesn't mean very much. We can't assume a particular outcome for a season of games we haven't yet played. Doing so just sets us up for a big fall.

Can't deny the arms race is fun to watch. And it'll certainly make for a fun off-season, imagining what could be.

But that's it. All that potential has to translate to W's, or it'll mean nothing at all. The Rams are set up well, but we're not more than a year removed from constant misery. Let's see them actually win the games first.

I love the title change the mods did. Brilliant work!

All I'm saying is I think the Rams improved more than the 49ers. But do NOT mistake that for me believing the 49ers have not improved, either. First of all, I think we have a better quarterback, and that is coming from a long time Goff fan (before the Rams drafted him). People still doubting Jimmy G, but not every QB can do THIS on a regular basis like he does. This is a routine play for him (I know, posted already lol):

He just needs to not make Brett Favre decisions, but one must remember he had all of four weeks to learn the offense before he started playing. I am fairly confident that when he actually knows where everyone is going to be he will not lock onto a WR like he admitted to doing some last year due to not knowing the playbook well enough. I mean, he didn't do any of that in New England.

Second, I think Shanahan is an ever so slightly better play caller than McVay. And third, I think when healthy, Sherman is still the best CB in the league.

That said, again, the Rams have improved more. They doubled the strength of their secondary, and they just doubled the strength of their interior pass rush and run defense. I see the Rams finishing no worse than 12-4, and if they do, it will be due to injury or locker room implosion. But I don't see that happening. McVay by all accounts is a very likeable coach, and Wade Phillips demands respect from even the most experienced veterans due to his lifetime of success.

2018 predictions for both teams:

Rams: 11-5 to 13-3 and Home Field Advantage or 2nd seed.

49ers: 8-8 to 10-6 with a sweep of the Tards and a split with the Hawks.

I was very surprised that the Niners signed McKinnon for so much dough and made him the #1 back. He was always a complimentary back in Minnesota to Peterson, Murray, rookie Cook and he even split time with Matt Asiata. Niners should draft a big running back like Kalen Ballage in the third round to be able to run between the tackles.

To be fair the Whiners were one Barron tackle away from going 2-0 vs the Rams last year.
Jimmy G is going to be very good. I don't base this on stats but on how he throws. Good feet, balanced and a super fast release. Dude impresses the hell out of me. I think their passing O is going to be very good. Coaching and scheme. By switching out their running back I expect a lot of up tempo and maybe 40 passes a game. The key to slowing them may be the same as slowing the Rams....hold them to FGs. But, we will see.
Getting compliments from a Whiner fan is like a woman being told she looks nice by a peeping Tom.
It's creepy.

Since we’re being fair...the whiners were the rams actually needing the last game of the season away from going 0-2 vs the Rams last year.

Fair enough.
I just understand their optimism.
I can To an extent. They should be optimistic that their rebuild looks to be ahead of schedule but they aren’t ready to compete at the same level as teams like the rams.

Pierre Garcon can say what he wants but I can assure you Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib aren’t loosing any sleep over him and Marquise Goodwin :rolllaugh:

What makes what they are doing interesting to me is the D and Jimmy G and of course the approach on O.
